Last night, a group of the world’s most beautiful women got together in a room in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to see who among them would become the new Miss Universe. After several hours of pageantry and deliberation, Miss Angola emerged the winner. Gentlemen, meet Leila Lopes, the reigning queen of hot chicks.

Lopes, 25, hails from Benguela, Angola.

Currently residing in the UK, Lopes left Angola to pursue an education in business management.

She was crowned Miss Angola UK in October 2010.

She returned to Angola in December 2010 to compete in the Miss Angola pageant, eventually winning the title.

She also won the Miss Photogenic Award at the same pageant, meaning she’s really good at being photographed. We can only agree.

Lopes is the first Angolan to win Miss Universe.

She is the 60th Miss Universe to date, and the fourth African winner.

Lopes says she’ll use her new title to build exposure for a number of social causes she is involved with. “I work with poor kids, I work in the fight against HIV. I work to protect the elderly and I have to do everything that my country needs,” she told Hollywood Reporter at the competition. “I think now as Miss Universe I will be able to do much more.”

Little does this noble woman know how much she has already done.
