Lexus’s hybrid concept, the LF-Ch is their most recent concept vehicle, and would, if produced, take advantage of existing hybrid technology used in the current line of Lexus Hybrid SUVs. Most of the innovation, it seems, is cosmetic to the point where the press release announced proudly that, indeed, this model will feature “…hybrid details including its blue Lexus logo, which is shared across the Lexus family of hybrids, and hybrid side badging.”
That being said, existing Lexus hybrids are not necessarily deserving of a revamp in terms of hybrid technology. Like most hybrids out there, they use regenerative breaking in order to charge a Nickel-metal hydride battery which then, when not accelerating, replaces some or all of the cylinders of the combustion engine to power the vehicle.
They concept, though, is a much more attractive vehicle than the existing RX model despite the garish colour used in the prototype. It’s got more of a ‘tween feel than the decidedly SUV-style RX, and has a more predatory grill and rear foil. It’s also, of course, got the requisite tech and finery on the interior such as headrest-mounted iPhone docks and cabin lights built into the seat seems.
