Shvona Lavette is one of those all-around entertainment packages. She sings, acts, dances and looks good doing all three. Having just tried her hand on the music scene with her debut EP 3 Percent & Rising, she’s now gunning hard for pop stardom. Shvona took some time to talk with us about her career and what it takes for a guy to score a date with a multi-talented up-and-comer.

MADE MAN: You’re a musician, an actress and you can strike a hell of a pose in front of the camera. Which do you like best?
SHVONA LAVETTE: I feel differently about all three, let’s just say that. Music allows me to free myself while being in front of the camera or onstage allows me to tap into vast emotions. And, well, striking a pose is something I do when I get out of the damn shower daily…

MM: What other talents are you hiding?
SL: I love to cook, but the cooking you do on the holidays when all the family is around and you’re being loud and gossiping and drinking. I also love to write.

MM: Working in entertainment, you’ve probably met a few celebrities. Ever been star-struck? If so, by who?
SL: Michael Jackson. I acted a damn fool.

MM: If you hit play on your iPod right now, what song would come one?
SL: It’s currently out of batteries, but when fully charged, Lupe Fiasco’s “In My Head” was the last song, and Stevie Nicks’ “Landslide” before that.

MM: What’s the best way for a guy to get your attention?
SL: Being a gentleman. Not an asshole or an ego freak pretending to be a gentleman. A real damn gentleman. That’s it. Oh, and perfect straight white teeth and nice shoes.

MM: What do you look for in a relationship?
SL: Honesty and humor. The rest we’ll figure out later…

MM: What’s a dating deal-breaker for you?
SL: Bad breath and ignorance and/or lack of education. I also can’t stand it when they’re being picky with what you order because of price or talking about money. Yuck!

MM: What’s next for your career?
SL: I plan to release more EPs and full LP projects in the near future.  I definitely want to travel and tour. The sky is the limit!
