This two-man operation out of Seattle specializes in taking the hard metal and plastic edges off your peripherals and replacing them with warm, earthy, wooden curves to inject a little soul into them. Something we can all use in this age of tech obsession.
The seller’s profile in Etsy is continually and interestingly updated as they get new species of wood and differently configured gadgets to house in them. They also accept custom orders so you can get exactly what you want in terms of hard drives embedded in exactly the type of wood you want it in. Think about getting a wooden keyboard or a wooden mouse to match.
If you prefer to stick only with the hard drive, though, your options range from 500GB Sata drives to optical burning drives, to wine racks and mailboxes. The items range around $100 depending on what’s in them and how complicated it is, so check out their profile for all their products.
The ASUS EeeKeyboard is the anti-iPad. It’s portable in so far as you can move around one room with it. Instead of no keyboard, it’s pretty much all keyboard. It runs windows, and it definitely can’t be used ostentatiously to look cool in an overpriced coffee shop. Why get it?
Because in this uncertain time of the melding of the medias – at a time when you can access Break Media Network content on your phones, televisions, iPads, and even on city busses in Los Angeles, everybody is clambering to be the all-in-one media device. And, frankly, the iPad is close, but if you want something to simply run in your living room, the ASUS EeeKeyboard is the ticket. It is, as yet, unreleased, but will sell for $600.

This is one of those things where somebody decided to take a bunch of amazing things, crush them together, and try and make something in which the whole is well and truly greater than the sum of the parts. Mission accomplished.
Bacon Bourbon Caramel Corn sounds like it was probably conceived of after consuming bourbon, bacon, and caramel corn in that order. This sweet/salty snack and its intoxicating (not really) medley of man-flavors is available from the Salted Caramel confectioners. It mixes the fatty smokiness of your favorite breakfast meet with the oaky tone of bourbon with a sweet-and-salty caramel corn base. It comes in an 8 oz. bag for $12.00, a commemorative Baconfest Chicago two-back for $20, or the “Pig Out” bag weighing in at 2-pounds for just $34 (that’s your best value right there). Of course you could make your own if you were so inclined, but may we recommend taking it easy on the bourbon until after you’re done cooking. Buy it here.
To say that Glenfiddich scotch is rare is an understatement worthy of a man that, indeed, has drank an entire bottle of scotch. It comes from only the second-ever vatting of this particular whiskey. The original went to Glenfiddich founder, William Grant’s, kids.
This particular spirit has been maturing for 18,250 days in only two oak casks. These casks were specifically chosen by the Glenfiddich malt master from a pool of over 200,000 specifically for aging this rare whiskey which is important as the casks contribute approximately 70% of the taste to any whiskey’s final flavor. Those casks were then combined and aged for an additional six months in a single American oak barrel.
The result of is one of the rarest and most expensive whiskeys on the planet today, and its price reflects that fact at a whopping $16,000 a bottle. Buy it now.
It may be fashionable in the two-wheeled community to opt for simplicity of design and function over, say, a working derailleur or a free-spinning hub. For our money, those are conveniences we’re willing to deal with the complication of. Luckily there’s a middle ground for everybody.
Enter the Cannondale OnBike. It takes the attractive parts of a single speed or fixed-gear bike – that being a minimum amount of exposed components to break or malfunction, and puts them in an extremely complicated, hyper-engineered shell that allows you to still pedal up hills with a 6% grade. They also managed to make it look stunningly badass – it looks like an armored Jeep mated with their traditional Scalpel model to make this sleek beast.
The OnBike works with a fully-enclosed, functioning drive train that is actually part of the frame. It’s got in-built, customized SRAM i-MOTION, 9-speed hub gear, and disc brakes. It comes with Schwalbe Kojak Bad Boy tires, and the HeadShok Solo w/DL50. Get it now for about $6,000.
The soldiers in the beginning of “Iron Man” driving in the armored Hummer listening to AC/DC and screwing around like the brash pawns of Tony Stark that they are would’ve done well to have used this 1mm steel, armored boom box rather than the crappy drugstore version they had.
The Thodio A-Box stereo is built using an original, U.S. Army ammunition box from the 50s. These are the boxes that once shelled out the .50 cal rounds fipping over and through enemy combatants. Now you can use the same technology (plus a great deal of newer, audio-based tech) to crank out whatever awesome music you want. There are two models available: one with 2x 25 Watt amps, and another, larger model with 2 x 70 Watts. The heavier version even has woven Kevlar speakers which seems like overkill, but which we still love. Each A-Box is encased in 1mm steel, but insulted with a vibration damping material so it doesn’t sound like a firing machine gun is attached to your stereo when you’re truly rocking out. You can buy the light version for $339, or the heavy version for $457 at the company’s site.
At launch, there were only two sites in the know universe that would play video on the iPad, right out of the box. One starts with a ‘Y’ and is the home of 99% detritus. The other, of course, is Break.com.
In time for last weekends, launch, we at Break media were able to work closely with Apple in order to format our editorial and video content in HTML5 allowing video playback on the iPad. If you don’t know what that means, that is just fine. All you need to know is you can watch all their fake videos, the horrible results when somebody that is far too old tries to skateboard, or any of our many hot-chick-prank-videos videos. There’s no need to go to the app store, no need to buy or download anything, and no need to wait any longer. Simply direct your iPad’s browser over to Break.com, and get crackin’.

Camille Ford could beat you at arm wrestling. She probably wouldn’t unless you gave her a really good reason to, though. This athletic adventurer based out of New York but bred in Arizona is quick with a joke, easy on the eyes.
And, she is happy to be the new host of Travel Channel’s “Food Wars.” We were able tointerview her far too briefly recently, and here’s what she had to say about food, guns, adventure, and every kind of “ing” activity you can think of.
MM: Why food?
CF: (laughs) I would say that food and travel are my two favorite things besides, um, you know. Some other extracurricular activities, but, there’s nothing I love more than just going places and saying, “What’s that shack at the end of that road? Let’s go eat there.” So I get to mix my passion and love of travel with my absolute passion for good food.
The Rolling Stones, James Brown, Chuck Berry, Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Beach Boys, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Lesley Gore, The Supremes, and more of the popular music icons from here and abroad.
“In the top three of all rock movies,” says Quentin Tarantino. Unfortunately, due to complicated legal matters, this film has been unreleased since on home video since its original theatrical debut in 1964. The legendary T.A.M.I Show (Teen Age Music Internation) was one of the greatest confluences of talent in Western musical history. Filmed just 8 months after the iconic Beatles performance on the Ed Sullivan show, the T.A.M.I Show takes place in sunny, Santa Monica, California and is a cross section of astonishingly young and fresh rock and roll and soul icons performing as their waves are just beginning to crest. For some idea as to what a momentous occasion this was, consider that Prince used to have James Brown’s performance from this particular show on loop in his office’s lobby. All day.
