In downtown Los Angeles, the recently opened Faith & Flower is a gorgeous, classy venue where chief mixologist Michael Lay brings classic drinks to life with a modern twist. His house-made bitters, shrubs and syrups require the utmost of care and elevate the cocktails to an unforgettable level. 1 ½ oz. Nikka 12 year Japanese Whisky
½ oz. King’s Ginger
1 tablespoon Kuro Sato Syrup – Okinawa Black Sugar or substitute with a rich demerara syrup, 2 parts sugar and 1 part water
1 dash of Aromatic Bitters (Lay makes his own but you can use Angostura)
2 dashes of Adam Elimegirab Teapot Bitters
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass. Add ice and stir just until cold, not trying to dilute too much. Strain over an ice cube and garnish with an orange twist.
