In downtown Los Angeles, the recently opened Faith & Flower is a gorgeous, classy venue where chief mixologist Michael Lay brings classic drinks to life with a modern twist. His house-made bitters, shrubs and syrups require the utmost of care and elevate the cocktails to an unforgettable level. In the video below, watch how Lay crafts one of the bar’s most popular drinks, the Harry Winston, an ode to the Old-Fashioned. Then make one yourself with the included recipe. Happy sipping.

Harry Winston
1 ½ oz. Nikka 12 year Japanese Whisky
½ oz. King’s Ginger
1 tablespoon Kuro Sato Syrup – Okinawa Black Sugar or substitute with a rich demerara syrup, 2 parts sugar and 1 part water
1 dash of Aromatic Bitters (Lay makes his own but you can use Angostura)
2 dashes of Adam Elimegirab Teapot Bitters

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass. Add ice and stir just until cold, not trying to dilute too much. Strain over an ice cube and garnish with an orange twist.
