10 Best Album Covers Ever

Want to know the 10 Best Album Covers Ever? Just as with any topic in music, there is a lot of debate about what makes a great album cover. From the simple to the controversial, a CD is often judged by its cover. Bands like Korn have used fan art for an album cover. 2 Live Crew and Lords of Acid have both had albums banned from stores because of the cover art. Nirvana changed the album art for "Nevermind" when stores and parents complained about the naked baby on the cover. Cover art can make or break an album. Rolling Stone has, fortunately, helped solve the problem by creating a list of the top 100 greatest album covers which appeared in the November 14, 1991 issue of the magazine. In November 1991, Rolling Stone magazine surveyed a panel of distinguished art directors, designers, photographers and editors for an admittedly highly subjective list of the 100 greatest album covers of all time. The entire top 10 list comes from the 60s and 70s. 80s album covers don't make it to the countdown until 16 with New Order. Depeche Mode is the most recent album on the countdown coming out in 1989.
