10 Best Batman Movie Characters

The ten best Batman movie characters of all time is a who's who of the good, the bad, and the ugly. Like their comic book counterparts, the movie's characters are a mixture of violence, love, hate, and compassion. With familiar characters named Joker, Bane, and Scarecrow to name a few, you will be transported back to a time when comic books were your entertainment choice and you wished as a kid that these characters could jump out of the pages in front of you and settle their differences right there seemed to be something that was just a dream. Batman is the crime fighting hero that we wanted to be when we were kids.

  1. Joker (Jack Nicholson). "Batman". The one that started it all. In 1989, the franchise took off as Micheal Keaton starred as Batman, but Jack Nicholson stole the show as the legendary Joker, and is arguably one of the ten best Batman movie characters of all time.

  2. Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones). "Batman Forever". This 1995 installment of Batman gave us one of the ten best Batman movie characters in the entire franchise. Tommy Lee Jones had an array of stars to outshine including Jim Carrey, Drew Barrymore, and Val Kilmer. With a flip of a coin, Jones, as Two-face, out acted the entire cast.

  1. The Riddler (Jim Carrey). "Batman Forever". Carrey finally plays a character that is equal to his real life personality; the quick witted Riddler. His huge smile and long limbs make him a creepy yet smart villain to play against the cool, calm, and collected Batman, and gave audiences one of the ten best Batman movie characters that lived on screen.

  1. Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman). "Batman & Robin". In this 1997 movie, Poison Ivy has a major role in the saga to defeat Batman. She enlists the help of the monster Bane to thwart good guys all over Gotham. She has a special relationship with her plants and with becoming one of ten best Batman Movie characters in the franchises history.

  1. Scarecrow (Cillian Murphy). "Batman Begins" & "The Dark Knight". Scarecrow does double duty as the insane Dr. Johnathan Crane. He is seized by Batman before committing a crime and presumably taken to jail or Arkham Asylum. The mask that he wears is a breather / ventilator so he doesn't inhale his Fear Gas. Scarecrow makes one of the ten best Batman movie characters because of his cool mask and his Fear Gas.

  1. The Penguin ( Danny Devito). "Batman Returns". The Penguin is one of the oldest Batman characters from the comic book, and he came to life in Batman Returns. Penguin's army of Penguin henchmen were no match for our masked hero.

  2. Catwoman (Michele Pfeiffer). "Batman Returns". With an who's who of criminal minds trying to take over Gotham, The Catwoman has other things on her mind, like trying to court Batman. Her playful nature and seductive moves still couldn't break Batman.

  1. The Joker (Heath Ledger). "The Dark Knigh". Being a criminal is one thing, but being a smart criminal is a who other can of worms. The Ledger version of The Joker is a sadistic, go for broke vigilante who gets what he wants and cares for no one. There is nothing funny about this Joker !

  1. Bane (Jeep Swenson). "Batman & Robin". This guy gave everyone a scare. Bane was a freak of nature for sure, controlled by the vile Poison Ivy, he wanted nothing more than to kill Batman. He did manage to pound Batman for a while until reality set in and he was “disconnected” if you know what I mean.

  2. Bruce Wayne / Batman. (Michael Keaton) "Batman". The original Batman in the movie series. This was the cool and smooth Batman who took no gruff from anyone, including The Joker. The billionaire playboy role was kind of awkward for Batman, but Keaton played the character very well.
