The 10 best dance songs of the 90’s are hot, rocking songs that make you move. Dance music is primarily made to be played at nightclubs. The younger crowd gathers at their favorite nightclub while the DJ’s play the best dance songs. The 1990’s are best known for not only dance music but grunge and teen pop as well.

  1. “Vogue”- Sung by Madonna, “Vogue” is one of the best dance songs of the 90’s. The song was released on 03/20/90 on Madonna’s album, “I’m Breathless.” Madonna also made a remixed edition of the song which appears on her albums, “The Immaculate Collection” and “Celebration.” The song appeared on Alvin and the Chipmunks 1996 album titled, “Club Chipmunk: The Dance Mixes.”
  2. “Be My Lover”- “Be My Lover” is sung by La Bouche.  It appears on the album “Sweet Dreams” and was released on 03/03/95. There have been several mega mixes and remix versions. The song appears in the background of an episode of “30 Rock.” It has also appeared in the 1997 movie “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion” and the 1998 movie “A Night at the Roxbury.”
  3. “This Is How We Do It”- Montell Jordan released this 90's dance song on 02/06/95. It appears on his album “This Is How We Do It.” The song appeared on several dance compilations such as “Jock James Volume 2.” The song can be heard in movies such as “The Nutty Professor” “8 Mile” and “Multiplicity.”
  4. “Livin La Vida Loca”- This is definitely one of the best dance song of the 90’s, performed by Ricky Martin. The song was released on 04/20/99 and can be seen on his album “Ricky Martin.” There is a cover version that is performed by Antonio Banderas and Eddie Murphy on the movie “Shrek 2.” Other cover versions include the group Toy Dolls, CJ Crew and Dave Rogers.”
  5. “Whatta Man”- Performed by Salt-N-Pepa, “Whatta Man” was released on 02/08/94 and appears on their albums “Very Necessary” and “Runaway Love.” Pro Wrestling fans will remember that Jason Knight from ECW used this song for his promotions. House fans will recognize the song as one of House’s ringtones. The song has also appeared on “30 Rock” and “Sister, Sister.”
  6. “U Can’t Touch This”- As of one of the best dance song of the 90’s performed by MC Hammer, this song debuted on 01/13/90 and can be heard on MC’s album “Please Hammer, Don’t Hurt Em.” He debuted this song during a live performance on the late night talk show “Arsenio Hall.” The song was also used for a South African commercial for Castle Light Beer.
  7. “Macarena”- Performed by Los Del Rio, the song can be heard on the albums “A Mi Me Gusta” and “Fiesta Macarena.” On the hit TV show “America’s Best Dance Crew,” the song was danced to on the Whack Track Challenge. This song has also been remade by The Groove Grass Boyz, who did a country music version.
  8. “Gonna Make U Sweat”- This is one of the best dance songs of the 90’s and is performed by C&C Music Factory. The song was released on 10/18/90 and can be found on their album “Gonna Make U Sweat.” The song can be heard in movies such as “Sister Act,” “Space Jam,” “Jarhead” and “Evan Almighty”. TV fans have heard the song on shows “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” “King of Queens,” “The Simpsons” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
  9. “Finally”- Sung by Ce Ce Peniston, the song was debuted in 08/11/91 and appears on the album “Finally.” The group did a great dance mix remake of the song and that version of the song has been used in several dance music compilations.  In 2010, Lady Gaga used excerpts of the song in The Monster Ball Tour in the song “Dance in the Dark.”
  10. “Total Eclipse of the Heart”- This is one of the best dance songs of the 90’s. It was originally performed by Bonnie Tyler but on 02/27/95, Nikki French came out with a dance version of the song. It appears on her album “Secrets.”
