10 Best Golf Courses In America
Ever wondered what the 10 best golf courses in America are? When you are thinking of going golfing this summer, you’ll need to find a great club to visit. We hope these will tickle your fancy and help with your swing.
- Orange County National Golf Center was awarded best public club from 1999 to 2009. Ten years don't lie. Florida is a great place for golfing, so check this one out.
- Bethpage State Park comes in second with some of the greenest links in New York, you don't want to miss this one. No membership required and rates are reasonable.
- Lewis River Golf Club sits in the Pacific Northwest and safe from floods and fires; this nice little course hasn’t let it get them down. It’s just 30 minutes north of Portland, Oregon.
- Sea Island Golf Club located in Georgia is rated favorably for its golf hotel and great teachers. Five miles of private beaches surround each professional link. This challenging course is flush with awards, including being rated number one in the United States among the "World's 50 Best Golf Hotels" by "Golf Digest Index".
- Scottsdale Arizona Golf Courses. Particularly the Phoenician courses, are amongst the most varied and best designed. The list wouldn’t be complete without an Arizona golfer’s paradise. There are too many to choose from, so check some out.
- Pine Valley Golf Resort isn’t far from Fort Knox, which is pretty cool, we think. As for the golf community, Pine Valley is rated number two on "Golf Digest" in 2007 and number one in 2009. They have the most challenging Bermuda grass course in Kentucky.
- Pebble Beach Golf Club holds all the beauty of California. The U.S. Open was held here in June 2010, so they must think it isn’t so bad either. Pebble Beach is also available year round due to perfect Florida weather.
- Crystal Downs Golf Course in Northern Michigan is a must for the golf enthusiast. It's a Macenzie, as all golf courses named after Alister Mackenzie are known. It’s a hilly place though, so be prepared.
- Augusta National held the Masters this year (2010), there is supposedly a Par-3 curse. That gives us the chilly-willies. "Golf Digest" rates it at number one.
- Sand Hills in Mullen, Nebraska. This is a private club, but golfers love it. Voted number eleven in the world of golf courses it is said to “be the best in the last 50 years”. Don't let the name fool you, Sand Hills is just as green as any other course.
