These are the 10 best movies about school Whether we are high schoolers trying to relate or grown adults reminiscing about our high school experience, these movies about school are great.

  1. Speak- Cantering around a girl who was raped, Speak tells the story of a 15 year old's tortures after the horrifying event. No one knows of what happened to her, instead they outcast her and make fun of her for acting different. She slowly comes to grips with what happened and escapes her depression. A feel good movie all the way around.
  2. The Breakfast Club- Taking place during a Saturday detention, students from different cliques who would never really talk to each other in any other situation band together against one common enemy, the principle. They slowly bond, become friends, and understand each other.
  3. American Teen- This documentary follows four different students through their senior year in high school. This is as real as it gets, and it properly describes what your typical senior goes through, whether your a nerd or the star basketball player competing for a college scholarship.
  4. Saved- What happens when you get pregnant in a Catholic high school? Better yet what if the father of your child comes out of the closet not long after you get pregnant, and your too afraid to tell him? Watch Mandy Moore star in this great film revolving around school.
  5. Boyz N The Hood- So how does a typical day for high schoolers from south central LA go? Well this movie follows the young promising football star, the brainiac, and the typical drug dealer. All of them spend their days the same way, the only difference is one of them usually dies.
  6. Worlds Greatest Dad- When a teachers son dies in a horrific way (by jacking off), he refuses to let his son, who was a bit of an a-hole, go out as a joke. He makes it look like a suicide and then writes a book about it in an attempt to get famous. He slowly comes to terms with what he is doing is wrong, and that his son did not deserve the courtesy of a cover up.
  7. The Virgin Suicides- This film follows five sisters who all go to a prom together with members from the high school football team. After one sister stays out past her curfew all five of them are locked inside their home and kept guarded by their father while losing contact with the outside world. Their response? Simple, they kill themselves.
  8. Youth In Revolt- Starring Michael Cera, Youth In Revolt follows the story of a young couple in love. But after Cera's lover is forced to transfer schools, Cera spends every waking moment trying to think how he can break her out of from the boarding school all while not getting arrested at the same time. This film is a must see for any high school couple.
  9. Napoleon Dynamite- Follow the quirky Napoleon as he goes through his senior year with one goal and one goal only. That goal is to ask his secret crush out to the prom. Napoleon Dynamite will remind every one of their awkward moments in high school.
  10. Dazed And Confused- "The thing I love about high school girls is that I keep getting older, but they stay the same age". That is one of the amazing quotes this movie provides. Following nerds, jocks, that annoying senior who thinks hes just way too cool, and cheer leaders, this film shows how different cliques spend their typical Friday Nights.
