 If you're spending time with the family and looking for a way to stay entertained, here is a list of the 10 best old family movies.

  1. "The Never Ending Story" Enjoyable for both kids and adults, this film was directed in 1984 by Wolfgang Petersen and stars Noah Hathaway, Barret Oliver and Tami Stronach.

  2. "Old Yeller" Probably one of the saddest endings of any family movie, this 1957 classic has become an important cultural film for baby-boomer's. Perfect for a family evening of movies and popcorn.

  3. "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" A 1954 film starring Kirk Douglas, this was the first science fiction film produced by Walt Disney Studios.

  4. "Planet of The Apes" The 1968 version directed by Patrick Schaffner stars Charlton Heston. A remake in 2001 stars Mark Wahlberg. Based on a novel by Pierre Boulle.

  5. "Groundhog Day" A hilarious comedy with Andie MacDowell and Bill Murray. How can you go wrong with a cast like that? Released in 1993.

  1. "The Wizard of Oz" Without a doubt one of the most famous family movies of all time. We all grew up on this one.

  1. "Ghostbusters" Good clean fun for everyone. Starring Bill Murray and Dan Akroyd this film was released in 1984.

  1. "Lassie Come Home" Originally a 1943 MGM film a British Remake in 2005 gave the film moderate success. Perfect for everyone in the family.

  1. "Flipper" Who can resist the adorable Dolphin in this 1996 remake of the cult classic by the same name from 1964.

  1. "Hans Christian Andersen" Danny Kaye stars in this 1952 film based around the life of a Danish storyteller.
