10 Best Trucks With Good Gas Mileage

We love powerful trucks, but we also love our money, so here are the 10 best trucks with good gas mileage. Let´s face it, when it comes to buying a truck, MPG is a key variable. Here is a top 10 of the best trucks with good gas mileage.

  1. Toyota Tacoma 2WD, 4 cyl, 2.7 L, Manual 5-spd, 19/25 MPG, combined 21. A proven tough truck, the Tacoma adds to it´s legendary durability a long term factory warranty, covering the drivetrain for as long as five years or 60,000 miles. It´s definitely the truck with good gas mileage to beat.
  2. Chevrolet Colorado 2WD, 4 cyl, 2.9 L, Automatic 4-spd, 18/25 MPG, combined 21. Not the most powerful of trucks, the Colorado delivers enough power with astonishing gas mileage. Even though the ride comfort is not good, and the looks could also be better, these Chevy will make your wallet happy.
  3. GMC Canyon 2WD, 4 cyl, 2.9 L, Automatic 4-spd, 18/25 MPG, combined 21. It´s a good truck, but others in the segment are better. A good price and warranty make this truck somehow desirable, but it´s performance leaves the driver waiting for more power and handling.
  4. Ford Ranger 2WD, 4 cyl, 2.3 L, Manual 5-spd, 22/27 MPG, combined 24. If you´re on a budget, here´s your choice. Inexpensive to maintain, and also good on gas, the classic Ranger has remained untouched for a number of years, always providing a good basic pick up.
  5. Suzuki Equator 2WD, 4 cyl, 2.5 L, Manual 5-spd, 19/23 MPG, combined 21. A great choice for the weekend warrior, not so for the daily commuter, this Suzuki can handle any recreational task. But the interiors are quite spartan, and the engine sounds a bit too loud.
  6. Nissan Frontier 2WD, 4 cyl, 2.5 L, Manual 5-spd, 19/23 MPG, combined 21. With a class average fuel consumption, the Frontier adds a lot of off road fun combined with great on road handling, a true find in this segment. So if you want to play and work on it, this is your truck.
  7. Dodge Dakota 2WD, 6 cyl, 3.7 L, Automatic 4-spd, 15/20 MPG, combined 17. With a base price slightly higher than other compact pick up trucks, the Dakota shows solid construction but an underpowered engine, not even good on gas. Generally speaking, the Dakota is a 50/50 combination of good and bad, with good looks on the interiors, but very uncomfortable seats. So so.
  8. GMC Sierra C15 XFE 2WD, 8 cyl, 5.3 L, Automatic 6-spd, 15/22 MPG, combined 18A truck that you can configure as you please, the Sierra offers a wide variety of body and power plant configurations. Even though it does not rule the segment, the fact that you can choose almost every detail really counts.
  9. Honda Ridgeline 4WD, 6 cyl, 3.5 L, Automatic 5-spd, 15/20 MPG, combined 17. With all the power that a week end pickup driver needs, and all the comfort that a car driver demands, the Ridgeline rules when it comes to design and utility. Don´t expect a towing rig, but enjoy the tailgate´s highly innovative design.
  10. Chevrolet Colorado 4WD, 8 cyl, 5.3 L, Automatic 4-spd, 14/19 MPG, combined 16. A big guy in a small body, the V8 Colorado is closer to a full size truck than it is to a small pick up. That´s what make it fun to drive and good for the casual truck user that can do with a smaller bed and a lighter frame.
