The 10 best TV shows for children all have something special in common; your kids will sit for hours and watch it without disturbing you. Although it is not exactly good parenting leaving your kids in front of the TV, if you have to do it, these are the ones to watch.

 

  1. Blue's Clues. Who couldn't love “Blue's Clues?” You've got a blue dog and a guy that is willing to do the stupid stuff most parents are not willing to do. On top of all that, it is educational.

  2. The Backyardigans. If “Blue's Clues” is filled with stupid educational stuff, “The Backyardigans” has all the cool learning stuff. Featuring cool characters that represent several ethnicities and music you wouldn't be afraid to have your friends hear you humming, “The Backyardigans” is one of the best TV shows for children.

  3. Dora the Explorer. When “Dora the Explorer” first came on, it was one of the most annoying shows on TV. The kids ate it up. Since its premiere in 1999, “Dora” has become one of those shows that parents tolerate because the kids are still buying into it for thirty minutes a day.

  4. Maya and Miguel. PBS first aired “Maya and Miguel” in 2004, and since then it has taken off. Featuring preteen Maya and Miguel, the show carefully borders the line between cheesy and entertaining.

  5. Spongebob Squarepants. There are not many adults who don't find the adventures of “Spongebob Squarepants” amusing. Although “Spongebob” is one of the best shows for children, its sometimes mature human appeals to adults as well.

  6. The Wiggles. The premise of “The Wiggles” is four guys doing stupid stuff to keep your kid entertained. Sounds like a winner, right? Since the premiere of “The Wiggles,” it has quickly become one of the best TV shows for children.

  7. The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Disney's original series about twins reeking havoc on a hotel is definitely one of the best TV shows for children. On “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,” the twins do those things we all wish we could have when we were kids. If you can get past the cutesy lines, it is well worth watching.

  8. Sesame Street. There is not an adult age 40 and under that can say they did not watch “Sesame Street” at one point in there life. Quite possibly the best TV show for children ever, “Sesame Street” has helped to raise generations of children. The show has tackled many subjects that were difficult including AIDS and gay marriage.

  9. Reading Rainbow. One of the most educational shows on TV, “Reading Rainbow” has been promoting literacy for years. Considered one of the best TV shows for children, “Reading Rainbow” inspired children to pick up books and actually read them.

  10. Little Einsteins. Just because your child won't end up being a child prodigy after watching the show, doesn't mean “Little Einsteins” isn't one of the best TV shows for children. With cool adventures and great animation, it ranks highly.

There are many TV shows for children that show 24 hours a day. Although most adults with view them with disdain, children are enchanted with them.
