Knowing 10 bow hunting tips will give you a better chance of being successful when hunting. Since bow hunting is a little more trickier than hunting for a rifle, it's best to know a few things about it before you go out for the kill. Below are 10 bow hunting tips that will prove to be effective when hunting.

  1. Know where to hit the animal. You must know that an arrow does the most damage  when shooting it through the hemorrhage of an animal. This makes the animal loose more blood compared to just knocking the animal over, giving it a potential chance to escape.
  2. When you bring the arrow tip in to position, make sure that you come up on the animal with the tip. If you come down, you will end up having more misses. Coming up with the tip and aiming for the lower part of the body will give you a greater chance of making a successful hit.
  3. Make sure you target practice before you hunt. Doing this will give you a good feel for the bow and a better understanding of how to work it. Going out without practice will leave you with no kills and will just making hunting harder.
  4. Know how far you can shoot with a bow. You need to know the maximum distance that you can shoot to be able to bring your kill down. Remember that you only have one shot, so knowing your distance will let you know how much luck you'll have at successfully bringing down your target at your maximum distance.
  5. Find the right bow. When buying a bow for for hunting, always look for high speed and superior power bows. Make sure to get a bow that has an adjustable grip and can shoot at more than 240 ft. per second. Make sure to test a bow before hunting with it.
  6. Scout out your hunting area before the season starts. This bow hunting tip should always be kept in mind. Since most animals can sense any irregular smells or movement in their environment, you need to know where you'll hunt and have your stand set up early so that animals don't notice the change when the season starts.
  7. Visually watch your shots to check for abnormalities. You can do this by using bright colored fletching and shooting in to a block target. Doing so will let you see any malfunctions when shooting your bow.
  8. Check to make sure there are no loose strings. Any loose fabrics when bow hunting can get your clothing caught in your bow. It's best to tie or attach loose clothing before hunting.
  9. Make your bow sound proof. Put puffs and string silencers on each end of the strings on your bow. Doing this will give animals a lesser chance of hearing your shots and running away.
  10. Shoot the animal when it is relaxed. This is the best time to release an arrow because the animal is less likely to jump. Keeping this bow hunting tip in mind will definitely be effective when hunting.
