These 10 MMA strength training tips will differ depending the instructor you choose. MMA stands for mixed martial arts. This sport is a combat sport that combines boxing, wrestling, karate and judo.

Some of the ten MMA strength training tips include:

  1. Lift weights. Do clean lifts, power straights and push-pull lifts. These types of lifts will build muscle and condition your body for your sport. These moves will also help your cardiovascular system.

  2. Do other exercises. These can include squats, chest presses and shoulder presses. These exercises will condition your core muscles.

  3. Run. On the days you are not working with weights, run as many miles as you can. This will build up your cardiovascular system and help you to have a clear mind.

  4. Eat healthy. Everyone should eat healthy but it is very important for someone who is involved in mixed martial arts. Protein and the right carbohydrates are of great importance.

  5. Take rest days. Your body is going through a lot when you are putting it through martial arts. Resting will give your body a chance to recharge and you will not have as many injuries.

  6. Keep your posture correct. Even when you are only training, your posture is important. While training, if your posture is not correct it can carry over in your competition.

  7. Be complete in training. While training, do not learn just one move perfectly, be good with all the moves. While you are gaining strength, build muscle all over your body.

  8. Think ahead. In training as well as in competition, when you execute a move, think about what you want to do next. Thinking ahead will improve your ability to overcome obstacles you will face.

  9. Do not give up. If you are defeated by something you are doing while training it will carry over into all areas of your sport. If something seems hard, leave it for a while then come back to it.

  10. Keep your mind focused. Always be on the lookout for possible injuries and bad equipment. Staying focused is very important in order to be the best you can be. When you walk into a training session, leave other things behind.
