10 Most Famous Sport Stars
It is very difficult to come up with a list of the 10 most famous sports stars as there are so many talented athletes who are famous in their own right. It is also tough to compile a list because there are so many sports out there today, everything from golf to auto racing to football. Some of the top sports videos can help alleviate that issue though. This list includes sports stars from all types of sports.
- Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan is a former American professional basketball player. He played for the Chicago Bulls from 1984 to 1993 and again from 1995 to 1998. He also played for the Washington Wizards from 2001 to 2003. He won six NBA championships.
- Jack Nicklaus. Jack Nicklaus is one of the 10 most famous sports stars. He is an American professional golfer whose nickname is" The Golden Bear." He has 18 championships. Nicklaus started playing professional golf in 1961.
- Martina Navratilova. Martina is an American Czechoslovakian tennis player. She started playing professionally in 1975 and retired in 2006. She won 18 grand slam singles titles, 31 grand slam women's double titles and 10 grand slam mixed doubles titles. She is the current Health and Fitness ambassador for AARP.
- Joe Montana. Joe Montana is definitely one of the most famous sports stars of all time. He is a former Hall of Fame football player in the National Football League. He started in 1979 and retired in 1994. Most of his career was played as quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers.
- Larry Bird. Larry Bird is a former American NBA basketball player and coach. He debuted in 1978 with the Boston Celtics and spent his career with them until he retired in 1992 due to back problems. From 1997 to 2000, Bird was the head coach for the Indiana Pacers. From 2003 to present, Bird is the president of basketball operations for the Pacers.
- Jeff Gordon. Jeff Gordon is one of the most famous sports stars as a professional driver for NASCAR. He is a four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion and co-owner of the number 48 car. In 1993, Gordon was named NASCAR Sprint Cup Rookie of the Year. He currently has 82 career wins.
- Deion Sanders. Deion is a former National Football League and Major League Baseball player. He currently works as an NFL network analyst. Sanders' career debut was in 1990 with the Atlanta Falcons and he retired from football in 2005 with the Baltimore Ravens.
- Tiger Woods. Tiger is an American professional golfer who is without a doubt one of the most famous sports stars. Woods turned professional in 1996 and he joined the PGA Tour that same year. He currently has 97 career wins. Tiger has won 14 professional major golf championships.
- Richard Petty. Richard Petty is a former NASCAR driver whose nickname is “The King.” He is a seven-time NASCAR champion and owner of Petty Motorsports. His first race was in 1958 and he raced his last race in 1992 when he retired.
- Troy Aikman. Troy Aikman is one of the most famous sports stars as a former American football player for the Dallas Cowboys from 1989 to 2000. He is currently the co-owner of NASCAR Hall of Fame racing team. He is also a television sportscaster for Fox network.
