Home to some of the most dramatic scenery in the United States with at least 10 places to travel on a budget, Utah is an exciting mix of historical places and contemporary arts. Travelers on a budget can find an abundance of things to do at low cost or at no cost. From watching the Mormon Tabernacle Choir rehearse to hiking in one of the many national parks, Utah has something for everyone.

 

  1. Bryce Canyon National Park Rocky spires and colorful cliff sides await visitors at Bryce Canyon National park. Hiking trails, scenic drives and breathtaking scenery are there for the taking for a twelve dollar entrance fee.
  2. Temple Square Located in Salt Lake City, this is one of Utah’s most popular attractions. Visitors on a budget can take a free self-guided walking tour of the area where much of the state’s historical buildings are located.

  3. Salt Lake City Assembly Hall An awe-inspiring building, the assembly hall hosts various kinds of events. Every Friday and Saturday evening, visitors aged eight years old and over can attend free concerts by local and international artists.

  4. Social Hall Heritage Museum Historically the gathering place for the early residents of Salt Lake City, it is now a museum with exhibits on pioneer life. Visitors can see the original hall where residents would drink and sing songs at the end of a working day. Admission is free.

  5. Brigham Young Historic Park Originally part of a farm, this city park is a great place to relax and enjoy an afternoon with friends. In the summer, the park hosts free concerts in the evenings.

  6. Alpine Loop Scenic Byway A twenty mile drive that takes place in canyons and glaciers and offers spectacular views across Utah’s diverse landscape. Passing through the Uinta National Forest, this scenic drive has some of the best scenery in Utah.

  7. Bird Watching Locations across the state allow ornithologists and bird enthusiasts to observe breeds such as owls and songbirds in their habitat. Combined with the beauty of the landscape, Utah is an ideal place for nature lovers to visit.

  8. Frontier Homestead State Park Museum A three dollar entrance fee gives visitors access to this state park where they can learn about the miners from the late 1800s. There are also picnic areas, hiking trails and biking areas.

  9. Southern Utah University Home to the Utah Shakespearean Festival and a variety of other arts and activities, visitors can stroll through the historic grounds of the university and soak in its rich character. The manicured lawns and college buildings are the perfect place to spend a day.

  10. Park City Main Street Originally a mining town, Park City has over 60 buildings of historical importance located around its Main Street. Take part in guided walks or just wander around the town by yourself and admire the character of the architecture and the old town atmosphere.
