10 Tips For Dating Women
These 10 tips for dating women are all about how to behave to earn maximum respect and assist your relationship in growing to be as healthy as it can be. Skip even one of these tips and you and your chances at love will be hurting.
- Her friends. Don’t hit on them. Plain and simple. The quickest route between having a girlfriend and becoming suddenly single is to be portrayed as a creep and a philanderer. Even if her friend is coming on to you, don’t reciprocate. In fact, run away. Far, far away.
- Her friends, part two. One of the better tips for dating women is to never talk bad about her friends. It’s okay to make a joke or two from time to time, especially if the woman you’re dating has done so or understands you say it in jest. But for the most part, keep a lid on it. Bite your tongue. Think happy thoughts, like puppy dogs, kittens and flowers.
- Her family. If you think the first two rules apply only to her friends, think again. When you’re dating women, never hit on or badmouth a family member. She needs to know you’re on her side. Support her during times of family conflict, but ripping on the fam will not go over well. It’s not your family, so keep a level head and a tight lip. This helps you to be there for her and listen to her more effectively.
- No juggling. When you’re dating women it’s best not to juggle an activity while she’s trying to talk to you. If she comes home or calls you and you’re on the Xbox, don’t try to finish your game. Pause it, turn away from the TV and just listen to her. Your game will be there when you’re done talking.
- Engage. A great tip for dating women that piggybacks off the last tip is this: Do not just sit there while she talks. If you do this, you’re forcing her to talk at you. She wants interaction, so ask questions to better understand or clarify what she’s saying and nod or indicate that you’re listening. Don’t just be a bump on a log.
- No problem-solving. When you’re dating women, communication means to give her your undivided attention and ask questions. What it does not mean, however, is to give her advice or try to solve all her problems. Women hate when men do this and men hate when they aren’t allowed to do this. Just allow her to vent. It’s a good exercise in avoiding co-dependency. You’re only dating. Tou’re not married, nor are you her therapist. It’s not your job to hammer out her issues.
- Dress up. The degree to which you’ll dress up will vary based on your style, but there’s no debating that you need to look your best when you’re with the woman you’re dating. Just like men appreciate when women look their best for them, so women appreciate when that thoughtfulness is returned. Again, this doesn’t mean suit and tie necessarily. Whatever your style is, make sure your clothes are clean, color-coordinated and sharp.
- Flirt. Many men, after they’ve successfully begun dating women on a routine basis, fall out of the habit of flirting. Don’t forget to gently tease her about her accent or her love of romance novels—something you can poke a little fun at. Always do so with a smile on your face so she won’t think you’re just being a jerk.
- Compromise or concede. When possible, compromise by agreeing to see her choice of movie if you can take her to your choice of restaurant. Sometimes how you it says a lot—and can do a lot for your relationship—if you concede to her wishes. Show her you can be flexible and open to change.
- Don’t give up your life. Don’t be so flexible that you give up your life completely. Remember, you’re only dating and at no point does that mean you should give up your hobbies, clubs or friends. Keeping these things your own will keep you well-grounded and your dignity intact.
