10 Tips For Travel In America

If you are looking to plan a voyage abroad, look no further than these 10 tips for travel in America, which will provide you with some basic insight for a fun and enjoyable American experience. A land of bountiful natural beauty and rich with cultural history, America is an important place for anyone to visit.

  1. Make sure to always carry your passport or visa with you. In post 9/11 era, security restrictions have tightened around immigration and foreign policy, particularly in the state of Arizona, and it is best to always carry proof of your identification and legal right to be in America with you at all times.
  2. Explore the southwestern deserts and mountains. The American west is possibly the most unique characteristic of national culture. The myth, legend, and history of cowboys and settlers finds its origin in these hallowed places. Popular tourist highlights include the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, and the Rocky Mountains, however there are sights of great natural beauty to see across the region.
  3. Visit New York City, possibly one of the most diverse places on the entire planet. Considered by many to be the capital of the world, New York City is nation's most populous metropolitan area, and one of the world's largest as well. Business, media, and cultural centers for the entire nation can be found within a few short, extremely dense blocks.
  4. Learn a passable amount of English, but do not shy away from your ethnic or cultural origins. By law, America is a land of fairness, justice, equality, and acceptance, and people from all backgrounds are welcome on her shores. Learning enough English to carry on a slow conversation will greatly improve your experience, not just by making transactions efficient, but also by personally acquainting you with the community.
  5. If you are not planning on renting a car, be sure to study the public transportation system in great detail. Regulations and rules are confusing to locals who speak English and have lived in any given area for years. The best way to avoid getting lost or running late is to plan ahead.
  6. Make sure someone else always knows your itinerary. While important in any situation, it is key to assuring that your friends, family, or the authorities can find you if you do become lost or wander away unintentionally.
  7. Avoid tour guides, tourist traps, and touring organizations bent on obvious, run-of-the-mill destinations and exorbitant pricing. Spend the time to read and research the things which truly intrigue you about the country, and see them on your own terms. It is significantly easier for a tour guide to show you the bare minimum for the same price he'd be paid to show you the things which make a location unique.
  8. Visit coastal communities. America's beaches are another one of its unique cultural attractions. The states of Florida, Virginia, New Jersey, and California are all noted for world class beach towns with breathtaking scenery.
  9. Explore the state of California. In few places in the entire world can such a diverse spectrum of ecosystems be found within such close range. Deserts, mountains, forests, and plains exist in abundance within a short drive another. The state is also home to several of America's largest international cities, including San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
  10. See what the American border experience is like for yourself. America's borderlands with the country of Mexico are almost a different nation. Unique historical, cultural, social aspects define the region from southern Texas to southern California. Great sprawling deserts and forests line this area of shared Mexican-American life.
