  1. Learn all the rules and regulations of the UFC or other MMA competitions that are on a personal agenda. While this may not seem like a normal training step, learning the specific rules and regulations may make or break a fight for you. With the wrong moves or other mishaps, a competitor can be disqualified, making all of their physical training obsolete in consideration to Ultimate Fighting events.
  2. Learn about the competitions and what is to be expected. Mentally training yourself to be prepared for any sort of competition and conditions is a must.
  3. Choose the fighting or martial art style or styles that you are most proficient and comfortable in using, if you have not already. Many of the competitors in these events are trained professionals, so be prepared for these fighters when moving from amateur to professional skill level in these events.
  4. Begin working, from this point forward, on training and improving strength, speed and the body’s overall physical condition.
  5. Every fighter should be training for strength, speed and overall improvement of physical condition. However, depending on what martial art or arts you choose to use, you may want to refine and tweak your training routine, so to speak.
  6. Whether you are an individual who has been constantly training or one who has slacked in the recent past, once you begin to train for Ultimate Fighting, it is wise to document your progress throughout your training.
  7. Documentation of your training can include your personal progression of fine tuning your physical body, it can help you to stay focused on training goals and schedules as well as helping you to see areas you may want to improve on.
  8. No matter what else your training routine encompasses, be sure that cardio endurance training is included.
  9. Be sure to remember that you can train your speed, cardio endurance and strength through various training methods.
  10. If you are not happy with the results of your personal training, you may want to think about hiring a professional trainer.
