10 Worst Football Fights

Football is a contact sport, and the 10 worst football fights prove the contact is sometimes taken past the whistle. With so many strong and quick guys to a team it’s hard to imagine what it would feel like to be a football fight, but following teams have done it.

1. LenDale White vs. Tennessee Titans. The only fight on our list of worst football fights that happened within the same team. In 2006, LenDale White was a rookie on the Tennessee Titans, after training camp and a couple of missed catches and botched plays he had a run in with a Donnie Nickey and Vincent Fuller. The rest of the team broke up the elbowing, spitting and shoving match, but this inter-team brawl was one for the books.
2. New York Jets vs. New York Giants. In this battle of Big Apple teams, the Jets and Giants found themselves in one of the worst football fights ever during a scrimmage game in 2005. The fight included more than ten players and two coaches from both sides.
3. LeGarrette Blount vs. Byron Hout. Easily one of the most famous and worst football fights in college football history. After the Ducks sorely lost to Boise State at the end of the 2008 season, the 2009 season started with the Ducks getting demolished by Boise once again. Following the game and a few choice words from Byron Hout of Boise State, LeGarrette Blount started throwing punches.
4. Hawaii Warriors vs. Houston Cougars. In another display of the worst football fights in college ball history is the Warriors and the Cougars. Following a 2003 win at the Hawaii bowl the Warriors celebrated their win on the field, during the celebration Houston started swinging helmets, causing a fight.
5. Oregon Duck vs. Houston Cougar. The only fight on our list of worst football fights to involve no players, but instead the mascots. During a game between the Oregon Ducks and the Houston Cougars the Duck’s mascot attacked the Cougar mascot and against all odds, won.
6. Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers. During a 2009 game, Buccaneer Clifton Smith was in position to return a punt and due to an apparent missed signal was unfairly plowed into by Dante Wesley of the Panthers. Officials flooded the field and quickly took charge of the situation before it got too out of hand, but this was easily the beginning of one of the worst football fights in history.
7. Miami Hurricanes vs. FIU Golden Panthers. In 2006 these two teams laid down one of the most violent and worst football fights in college football history. One Hurricanes player was nailing Panthers team members with a  helmet, while another was stomping Panthers players on the field. 
8. Miami Hurricanes vs. South Carolina Gamecocks. After a Miami team member whipped the Gamecock’s quarterback to the ground during a play, both teams flooded the field and laid out one of the worst football fights ever.
9. Washington Redskins vs. New York Giants. Rival teams the Redskins and the Giants got into it during a game in 2009. The fight started when DeAngelo Hall and Brandon Jacobs began throwing punches but quickly spread to other team members.
10. Miami Hurricanes vs. Notre Dame. One of the worst football fights occurred between the Hurricanes and Notre Dame’s fighting Irish in 1988 when the two teams got into a fist fight before the game had even begun.
