The 2008 Riverside International Film Festival Best Feature “The Flyboys” is an action adventure movie starring Jesse James, Reiley McClendon, Stephen Baldwin and Tom Sizemore. In addition to its 2008 Riverside International Film Festival Best Feature win, the film won major awards at the Bendfilm Festival, Ojai Film Festival and the Barbados International Film Festival, among others. “The Flyboys” has already been released on DVD in the United Kingdom.

This 2008 Riverside International Film Festival Best Feature winner tells the story of two young boys who wound up landing a twin airplane in Arizona in the middle of a highway. The film focuses on the events leading up to it. It all begins when the two boys wind up being accidental stowaways in a plane flown by the mob. They had snuck in to a storage facility in order to admire the planes, but had no idea that this bit of naughty action would lead to their lives being changed forever. What’s unique about this 2008 Riverside International Film Festival Best Feature winner is the fact that it is based on true events that took place in 2004.

One of the reasons why the audience chose this as the 2008 Riverside International Film Festival Best Feature is that it clearly resonates with adult and juvenile audiences alike. While adventure films based on true events tend to glamorize or exaggerate the effects, “The Flyboys” works because the plot unfolds in a very credible fashion. What is more, the musical score by Lisle Moore accentuates the drama in this stunning film, which clearly deserved the 2008 Riverside International Film Festival Best Feature award.
