5 Best Adventure Movies Of All Time
Hollywood is known for the great adventure flick, which is why putting together a list of the 5 best adventure movies of all time wasn't really that simple. Do you go for the movies from the past or the ones that incorporate better special effects? When we finally sat down to write this list we realized that special effects can make the movie great but it is the individual acting that really turns a very good adventure movie into one of the best of all time.
- "Pulp Fiction" Not the stereotypical adventure movie because it actually has several stories woven into each other, but there is plenty of adventure and action going on throughout the film. This is of course also the movie that relaunched John Travolta's flagging career with his turn as a likeable hitman.
- "Inception" Mind bending doesn't really begin to describe this movie. Set in a world where criminals can enter other people's dreams in order to steal important information, Christopher Nolan might have turned the action/adventure genre on its head with this particular movie.
- "The Dark Knight" Yep, Christopher Nolan has two of the five best adventure movies of all time to his credit. This one is the second in his series re-imagining Batman in a much darker way, and it also has a much more sinister view of The Joker. Heath Ledger turned in probably the finest performance of his career as a man who simply loved to create havoc.
- "Indiana Jones And The Raiders of the Lost Ark" Any list of the top adventure movies of all time has to include the first and best Indiana Jones movie. Attempting to save the Ark of the Covenant from the Nazis is only part of what makes this movie so great as Harrison Ford turned the action hero into somebody who didn't need to be able to accomplish superhuman feats.
- "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" Why this movie instead of the Episode IV (Which will always be the first Star Wars to us)? Because while that was a great adventure movie, this one was better. Sci-Fi adventure has never been done as originally or grippingly as this one was. We love the fact that the movie ended on a cliff hanger and that our heroes were getting beat left and right.
