5 Best Camping Sites At Harrison State Park In Ohio
Choosing between the 5 best camping sites at Harrison State Park in Ohio is like choosing between s'mores and campfire pie for dessert. Each one is sweet, but for different reasons. A state park carved out of the wetlands of northwest Ohio, Harrison State Park offers many different camp sites. From yurts to tent camping, there is plenty of variety.
- Camp site 205. If you like seclusion and have no need of electrical outlets, this spot could be your haven in the wilderness. Situated at the end of camp area three, it is at the apex of the cul-de-sac with no immediate neighbors. Pets are permitted in this area, so bring Fido along. Plan on getting your exercise trekking up to the bath house, as it is at the opposite end of this camp area. Of course, if privacy is your goal, walking is a small price to pay.
- Yurt and cabin camping. With walls to keep out the mosquitoes and doors to keep out the critters, you almost forget you're camping. For those who want to enjoy the outdoors without the hassle, staying in one of these yurts or cabins lets you enjoy nature from a different perspective. The two yurt and one cabin spots, numbers 94, 95 and 96, are located in area one. Bring your waffle iron since there are electrical outlets here, but leave your furry buddies at home since no pets are allowed in the yurts or cabins.
- Tent sites 116 to 121. Convenience for families abounds in this cul-de-sac of camp sites in area one. Camping with children can be more practical if everything you need is within easy reach. The kids have easy access to a playground, volleyball nets and basketball courts. Mom will appreciate that the bathrooms are close at hand, as well.
- Tent sites 58 and 59. Physical limitations need not deter physically challenged visitors from camping at Harrison State Park. These campsites are closest to the bath house, laundry, parking area and are close to the main road. Check with the park for specific needs. They can be contacted at (419) 237-2593.
- Sites 67, 68 and 69. Conveniently located near drinking water, bathrooms, a horseshoe pit, a playground and a walking trail, this is a wonderful place for those who like to be close to where the action is. The shower house is a modest walk down the lane and pets are welcome in these (and all tent sites) in Harrison Lake State Park.
