5 Best Michael J Fox Movies
It's pretty hard to narrow down the 5 best Michael J Fox movies. Perhaps best known for his roles as Alex P Keaton on Family Ties and as Marty McFly in the hugely successful Back To The Future Trilogy, Michael J Fox is an actor with a glittering career. During the 80's Michael was often cast in comedy vehicles that were aimed at family audiences, however he has had the opportunity to branch out into different films genres and past credits have seen him do everything from gritty war drama to supernatural chillers.
- "Back To The Future". The film that kick started his career is arguably Michael J Fox's best known role. Spawning two sequels the film sees Michael's character Marty McFly go back in time to 1955 in a Delorean that has been converted by his friend Doc Brown. The film is a perfect blend of action and comedy and is still a popular movie today.
- "The Hard Way". Made in the early '90's, the film saw Michael changing tack as he plays the comedy sidekick to James Woods' tough New York Cop. In the movie, Michael J Fox is Nick Lang, a Hollywood actor who is trying to win a role in new gritty cop film. He researches the role by riding with James Woods' cop around New York as he tries to catch a serial killer known as The Party Crasher. Action packed and aimed at a more mature audience than the family friendly "Back To The Future" series, the movie has some fine interaction between James Woods and Michael J Fox.
"Casualties Of War". Stark war drama set in Vietnam sees Michael J Fox as an American soldier who witnesses the brutal assault of a female prisoner by his squadron. An observation on the effects of the Vietnam War, the film also co-starred Sean Penn as a particularly vicious soldier who comes to blows with Fox as he tries to do the right thing.
"Teen Wolf". Another '80's classic. Michael plays Scott Howard, a teenager who is going through some physical changes. One night after a house party we see Scott rushing home as he begins to transform into a werewolf for the first time. Later on in the film he changes into a wolf on the basketball court and after winning the game for the team, the new look Scott Howard becomes the coolest guy in school. A fun movie for all the family, it sees a young Michael J Fox at the height of his popularity.
- "The Frighteners". Fox plays Frank Bannister, a ghost hunter who is tricking the local residents out of money by "exorcising" the spirits in their homes. In reality he is working with the restless spirits who are in on the scam. However things take a turn for the worst when an evil spirit starts killing people off and it is up to Frank to stop him. Although not a big box office success this film has a great storyline and Fox is at his most charming as Frank Bannister, the small town con man.
