1. Mint Julep.
To make a classic Mint Julep, you will need:
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- Fresh mint
- Crushed ice
- Powdered Sugar
Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil to make simple syrup. Set aside to cool. Crush a dozen sprigs of mint and add to the syrup. Refrigerate for 24 hours in a container with a tight lid. Place freshly rinsed glasses in the freezer.
Strain the mint sprigs from the simple syrup. Fill a tall chilled glass with crushed ice and sprinkle ½ teaspoon powdered sugar over the ice. Add two tablespoons of simple syrup over the ice. Add two ounces of bourbon and stir. Garnish with mint leaves.
2. Basin Street
To make a Basin Street, you will need:
- 2 ounces Bourbon
- 1 ounce Triple sec
- 1 ounce Lemon juice
Chill freshly rinsed cocktail glasses in the freezer. Add ingredients to a cocktail shaker and fill with crushed ice. Shake well. Fill a cocktail glass half way with ice and strain the mixture from the cocktail shaker over the ice. Garnish with a lemon twist.
3. Bourbon Cobbler
To make a Bourbon Cobbler, you will need:
- 2 ½ ounces Bourbon
- 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons Grapefruit juice
- 1 ½ teaspoon Almond Extract
Chill freshly rinsed old-fashioned glasses in the freezer. Combine all ingredients in a pitcher and stir. Pour over ice in a chilled glass and garnish with peach slices.
4. Brighton Punch
To make Brighton Punch, you will need:
- ¼ ounce Bourbon
- ¾ ounce Brandy
- ¾ ounce Benedictine
- Juice of ½ orange
- Juice of ½ lemon
- Club soda
Chill freshly rinsed tall glasses in the freezer. Add all ingredients (except club soda) to a shaker and fill the rest of the way with ice. Shake well and pour in a glass over crushed ice until the glass is ¾ full. Fill the glass the rest of the way with club soda and stir. Garnish with orange slice.
5. Kentucky Blizzard
To make a Kentucky Blizzard, you will need:
- 1 ½ ounces Bourbon
- 1 ½ ounce Cranberry juice
- ½ ounce Lime juice
- ½ ounce Grenadine
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
Chill freshly rinsed old-fashioned glasses in the freezer. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and cover with crushed ice. Shake will and strain into a chilled glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with sliced oranges.
