The 5 best sushi spots in NYC are those sushi spots that make you either glad for living in or visiting NYC. These are sushi spots that defy the ordinary and what you might expect at any old sushi place. Look for unorthodox combinations in your sushi roll while dining at any of these places, for sure!

  1. BONDST Restaurant This is the best sushi spot in NYC due to the first-class sushi that comes in unexpected, exotic varieties and will have you experiencing curveballs all night long. To get yourself some sushi at this restaurant, make sure you get yourself upstairs where its sushi bar is situated.
  2. 15 East 15 East is the second-best sushi spot in all of NYC because of its understated nature. It is so understated that you may even think this place doesn't serve excellent sushi, so before forming a biased opinion, just get in there and try some for yourself. Try their sea eel, which is the signature sushi dish at this establishment, and if you're lucky, the chef will actually pull out his trusty book of fish to explain what you are eating!
  3. Geisha The third-best sushi spot in NYC because of the temperature and texture of its fine sushi alone. Some of their unconventional sushi creations include a caterpillar roll with freshwater eel, avocado and toasted sesame seeds and their spicy tuna roll with kaiware sprouts, cucumber and scallions.
  4. Kuruma-Zushi This is the fourth-best sushi spot in NYC because of how seriously they take sushi. For example, they greet you with a ritualistic shout when you set foot in their establishment and they also serve you sushi in a ritualized order, fresh as can be. Prices are quite high here with tasting menus reaching up to a whopping $250, but if you want an experience, you won't be disappointed.
  5. Masa Masa is the final best sushi spot in NYC because it features so much more than sushi. While the sushi is great here, you should also try their sea bass with aromatic leaves and sprouts, their shredded and pickled seafood, their tuna belly tartare with spoonfuls of caviar and toast and their bowl of broth with sharp-tasting eel and foie gras.
