5 Boat Hull Cleaning Tips
Every new boat owner could use 5 boat hull cleaning tips. The most important aspects besides a boats performance is how it looks, and a less cool but clean boat is always better looking that a cool looking but very dirty boat. These tips are relatively simple procedures that anyone can take to prevent their boat hull from being a nasty old rat hole.
- Make sure when cleaning that you get all spots of the hull. This is an all or nothing deal in that if you only clean certain spots on the boat and not others, it will look highly uneven. The best way to avoid accidently doing this is develop a path that you are going to clean on and stick to it.
- Get the entire hull wet when you do the first rinse. Keep in mind that soap won’t be affective without water. And if leave dry spots, then you’ll end up having to wash all the soap you already have on the boat off, and go back and wet these spots.
- Use a dingy or other small boat to get all the way around the boat hull. This is the most effective way to clean the outside parts of the boat hull that are facing the water. It will also prevent you from overstretching yourself when cleaning so as to avoid any injury to yourself.
- Use a diving kit to clean the underside of the boat hull. This is probably the nastiest area of the boat and not only will it hamper the look of you boat, but also the performance. Keep in mind that this will be a little bit more difficult that cleaning from the surface as they will be new conditions.
- Make sure to rinse the boat hull completely off. One of the easiest signs of a bad cleaning job is soap spots. Make sure to get these off completely when cleaning to make sure you didn’t just waste all of your time.
