Chewy Sugar Cookies                                                                                                              

Items needed:

  • 1 ¼   C. white sugar
  •  2/3 C. butter, softened
  • 2 t. baking powder
  • 1 ½ t. salt
  • 1 t. vanilla extract 
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 C. flour 
  • Red or pink frosting
  1. Cream together the sugar and butter. Add eggs, salt and vanilla and mix well. Sift together flour and baking powder. Combine the sugar mixture and the flour mixture together. Beat until smooth. Stir in flour until well mixed and refrigerate for two hours.
  2. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface. Use a lightly floured cookie cutter or cut with lightly floured butter knife.
  3. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees for nine to eleven minutes.
  5. Frost with red or pink frosting.

Yummy Sugar cookies for Valentine’s Day

Items needed:

  • 1 roll prepared sugar cookie dough                
  • 1 C.  confectioners' sugar
  • 3 t. milk                                                          
  • 1 t. light corn syrup
  • 1/4 t. vanilla extract                                       
  •  4 or 5 drops red coloring
  1. Preheat the ovento 375 degrees F.
  2. Lightly grease cookie sheet. 
  3. Roll the dough out until it is about 1/4-inch thick. Cut out cookies with a small shamrock cookie cutter. Bake for eight to ten minutes, or until they are lightly golden brown.
  4. While the cookies are baking, make the icing. In a small mixing bowl, beat the sugar and milk until blended. Add the corn syrup, vanilla extract and red food coloring and beat until smooth. If the icing is too thick to spread, beat in an additional one or two teaspoons of milk.
  5. When the cookies are baked, remove them from the oven and cool them on the baking sheet for two minutes.
  6. Frost the cooled cookies with the icing. 

Sugar cookies

Items needed:

  • 2/3 C. shortening                                            
  • 1 ¼ C. Sugar
  • 2 eggs                                                             
  • 3 C. flour
  • 1 ½ t. salt                                                       
  • 2 t. baking powder
  • Grated rind of 1 orange                                 
  • Red food coloring
  1. Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and three drops red food coloring.
  2. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together.
  3. Mix with sugar mixture.
  4. Add orange rind and one tablespoon orange juice.
  5. Mix until smooth. Chill.
  6. Roll out onto lightly floured cutting board. Roll out to a ¼ inch thickness. Cut out cookies. Sprinkle with sugar and bake twelve to fifteen min at 350 F.

Chewy Yummy Valentine’s Day Sugar Cookie Recipe

Items needed:

  • 3 ¼ flour                                                        
  • 1 ½ C. sugar
  • 2/3 C. shortening                                            
  •  2 eggs
  • 2 ½ t. baking powder                                   
  • 2 T. milk
  • 1 t. vanilla                                                      
  • ½ t. salt
  1. Mix together ingredients until dough is well mixed. Refrigerate for two to four hours.
  2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  3. Lightly grease cookie sheet.
  4. Roll out on clean floured surface. Roll out to ¼ inch. Cut out the cookies. Place cookies on cookie sheet, bake for eight minutes. Allow to cool. Frost with pink icing.

Valentine’s Day Cut-out Sugar Cookies

Items needed:

  • 1 C. soft butter
  •  ½ C. sugar
  • 1 egg                                                              
  •  3 t. vanilla
  • 1 t. almond flavoring                                     
  • 3 C. flour
  • ½ t baking powder     
  1. Cream together butter, sugar, egg, vanilla and almond flavoring.
  2. Sift together and stir in three cups flour and ½ t. baking powder.
  3. Chill for two hours and roll 1/4 inch thick. Cut into hearts.
  4. Bake at 450 degrees F. for five to seven minutes or until edges are golden brown.

All of the above recopies will yield soft, chewy, yummy Valentine’s Day cookies. The trick to the cookies staying soft is to cover them up before they are completely cooled.
