5 Easy Holiday Pie Recipes

If you want taste with less effort, use these 5 easy holiday pie recipes for your holiday baking. These pie recipes are easy to make and perfect for any holiday gathering.

1. Dutch Apple Pie

Apple pie is a holiday staple and easy to make. 

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/2 cup quick-cooking oats FILLING:
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 3 tbs. cornstarch
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 3 cups peeled, diced tart apples
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  1. Combine the flour, brown sugar, butter and oats. Reserve 1 cup for topping. 
  2. Press remaining crumb mixture into an ungreased 9-in. pie plate; set aside.
  3. For the filling, combine sugar, cornstarch and water in a saucepan until smooth; bring to a boil. Cook and stir for one minute or until thickened. 
  4. Remove from the heat; stir in apples and vanilla. Pour into crust; top with reserved crumb mixture. 
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes or until crust is golden brown. 

2. Pumpkin Pie

Another easy holiday pie recipe is pumpkin pie.

  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked deep dish pie crust
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 (15 ounce) can pure pumpkin
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Combine sugar, salt, cinnamon, ginger and cloves. Beat eggs lightly in a bowl. Stir in pumpkin and sugar-spice mixture. Stir in evaporated milk. Pour into shell.
  3. Bake for fifteen minutes. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees F.; bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for two hours.

3. Chocolate Pudding Pie.

Chocolate Pudding pie has to be the easiest holiday pie recipe.

  • 1 (9 inch) prepared graham cracker crust
  • 1 (5.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  1. Make instant pudding according to directions on box.
  2. Dump pudding into pie crust.
  3. Spread whipped topping on top of the pudding.
  4. Refrigerate.

4. Blueberry Pie

While blueberry pie is a messy pie to eat, it is an easy holiday pie recipe to make.

  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 3 tbs. cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 4 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
  • 1 tbs. butter
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. 
  2. Mix sugar, cornstarch, salt, and cinnamon, and sprinkle over blueberries.
  3. Line pie dish with one pie crust. Pour berry mixture into the crust, and dot with butter. Cut remaining pastry into 1/2 - 3/4 inch wide strips, and make lattice top. Crimp and flute edges.
  4. Bake pie on lower shelffor about 50 minutes, or until crust is golden brown.

5. Apple Cranberry Pie

 Apple cranberry pie is a delicious twist on a holiday staple. This is another easy holiday pie with the perfect mixture of tart and sweet.

  • 1 (9 inch) deep dish pie crust
  • 6 apples - peeled, cored and chopped
  • 1 (12 ounce) fresh cranberries, roughly chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1/3 cup quick-cooking tapioca
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Bake pie shell for ten minutes.
  2. Combine apples, cranberries, and sugar. Cover, and set aside for about twenty minutes. Mix in tapioca, and set aside for fifteen to twenty minutes, until tapioca has absorbed fruit juice. Spread mixture into the partially baked pie shell.
  3. Combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and butter. Work mixture until crumbly. Spread mixture over the apple-cranberry filling. Brush exposed pie shell with egg.
  4. Place the pie on a cookie sheet to catch drips. Bake 45 to 60 minutes, or until apples are tender.
