However, the term commonly refers to chips, crackers, etc. Crackers and chips are quite unhealthy because of the ingredients and the amount of fat and calories that they contain. Therefore, it is in your best interest to stop eating these snack foods, as they may also be the source of your unhealthy eating. Try finding alternatives to eating snack foods, such as eating fruit. Now, cutting down on snack foods doesn't necessarily mean avoiding them. Eating them once in a while is okay.
- Start eating vegetables and fruits. Since you may not be used to eating vegetables and fruits by themselves, you can combine them with other foods to make them seem edible. There are many things that you could do to make vegetables and fruits taste better. For example, you could combine vegetables with soup, or you could eat fruits with salt or whipped cream. Once you start liking vegetables and fruits, you can start eating them raw, unless you still like to eat them with other foods. Just keep in mind that it's recommended that you eat at least one serving of fruit and vegetables every day.
- Save the fatty foods. Now, we're not telling you to completely avoid fatty foods, such as sausages, hot dogs, steaks, etc. Some of these foods have a lot of protein and other nutrients that we need. However, it's very unhealthy to be eating them on a daily bases. Instead, save them for the weekends and holidays where you know you'll be eating large amounts of food. When you do eat fatty foods, eat lightly.
- Eat lightly. This is pretty important for eating healthy. You may be used to eating a lot, including "heavy" foods, every day. This is pretty unhealthy because you may be consuming lots of food even though you don't need to be eating that much. Instead, eat a smaller amount of food that is light as well.
