1. Bacon wrapped scallops

You will need:

  • 1 pound of scallops
  • 1/2 pound bacon
  • Toothpicks
  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Wash each scallop and wrap 1/2 slice of bacon around the outside of the scallop. Secure bacon with toothpick.
  3. Bake for ten minutes. The bacon should be thoroughly cooked, and the scallops should be firm to the touch.

2. Rumaki (bacon wrapped chicken livers)

You will need:

  • 1 pound chicken livers
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • Toothpicks
  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Wash and clean chicken livers. Each liver will have a small dark spot in the middle of it. This is a bile duct and should be removed with a sharp knife.
  3. Melt butter in a skillet and add cleaned livers. Cook for four to five minutes over medium heat until chicken livers are done.
  4. Wrap each chicken liver with 1/2 piece of bacon. Secure bacon with toothpick.
  5. Bake for ten minutes until the bacon is done.

3. Cream cheese filled celery with a punch

To make this delicious hor d'oeuvre, you will need:

  • Fresh celery
  • 1 brick of cream cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon Tabasco
  • Flying fish roe
  1. With a vegetable peeler, remove the outside ribs off the celery. Cut across each stalk, cut each celery stalk in thirds.
  2. Mix softened cream cheese with Tabasco. If you like a spicier dish, add a little more Tabasco.
  3. Spread cream cheese mixture in each piece of celery and top with a bit of flying fish roe.

4. Blue cheese stuffed olives

You will need:

  • Blue cheese
  • Large green olives
  1. Fill each olive with blue cheese.
  2. Skewer with toothpicks for ease of picking up these finger foods. These make a delicious garnish for a dry martini.

5. Cucumber sandwiches

You will need:

  • One loaf of Wonder white bread
  • 2 unpeeled cucumbers
  • 1 brick of cream cheese
  1. Grate unpeeled cucumbers into a bowl. Drain all liquid from the bowl.
  2. Add softened cream cheese to the cucumbers and mix well.
  3. Spread cucumber mixture on a slice of Wonder white bread. Top with another slice of bread and cut off crusts. Cut each sandwich on the diagonal.
