  1. Sweet Potatoes.  Sweet potatoes are filled with vitamin C and potassium.  It is an excellent alternative dish to the traditional potato. Also, if the skins are left on, then you could get the benefits of fiber.  Most people are malnourished of fiber.
  2. Green Bean Casserole. Green beans are a green vegetable. Green vegetables are packed with antioxidants and are a low calorie dish which makes it a superb healthy Thanksgiving dish. The green bean casserole is delicious and you get a full list of benefits and nutrients. Never pass on the green bean casserole at a Thanksgiving table.
  3. Smoked/Baked Turkey.  Turkey dishes are a good source of lean protein.  Most turkeys are baked or smoke on Thanksgiving and that is an automatic healthy alternative.  It is better than frying, but it is okay to add a little healthy oil to the turkey as well.  For instance, olive oil is a good choice.  
  4. Cranberry Sauce. Cranberry sauce is a healthy dish, sweet, and will cure your sweet tooth. On Thanksgiving, you could pass on the cakes and pies, but still settle your cravings. Many people underestimate the cranberry sauce, but it is actually sweeter than most candy and is still healthy.  It is loaded with Vitamin C and proanthocyanidins (an antioxidant that is very effective at fighting cancer).
  5. Pumpkin. Many people do not eat pumpkin often in their everyday lives, but it is so healthy.  It's a combo of numerous of things. It has monosaturated fat, Vitamin A, and fiber.  Instead of having pumpkin in a high calorie pie form.  Try a pumpkin desert with blended pumpkin, cinnamon, and a pinch brown sugar.
