These 5 Memorial Day activities in Miami are just a selection of the many events offered in South Florida over the holiday weekend.

1. Urban Beach Festival. Held annually in Miami Beach, the Urban Beach Festival features hip-hop performances, pool parties a celebrity basketball game and shopping.  The four-day event attracts around 300,000 people each year and is perhaps the most popular Memorial Day activity in the Miami area.  
2. DocMiami International Film Festival. Hosted at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa, the DocMiami International Film Festival showcases emerging filmmakers and musicians at the three-day event. Passes for the events are as little as $7, with proceeds from many showings benefiting charities like the Red Cross
   
3. Culture Shock Miami. Open to students between the ages of 13 and 22, Culture Shock Miami provides discounted tickets to a variety of cultural museums in the Miami area. Events range from dance, theater, music, museums and festivals, with the Bass Museum, the Wolfsonian, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and Miami Metrozoo among those venues participating in this Memorial Day special.

Memorial Day Parades and Services. A wide selection of parades and memorial services are held each year on Memorial Day in Miami to honor the fallen U.S. service members.  Perhaps the most notable event is held in front of the Miami Beach Police Headquarters at the War Memorial Cenotaph on the morning of Memorial Day with a wreath-laying ceremony and a selection of speakers.

Jungle Island. Located on Watson Island, the Jungle Island zoological park is one of the most popular tourist attractions for families, featuring wildlife from around the world and a selection of shows. For Memorial Day weekend, Jungle Island hosts a free barbecue, with those who purchase a general admission ticket also receiving a complimentary pass to enjoy the park free for the rest of the year.
