The therapy includes learning to use specialized devices for performing everyday tasks many RA patients are unable to do without occupational therapy. This therapy teaches RA patients new methods to use when performing everyday tasks.
  4. Recently, tai chi methods have shown to be effective treatments for rheumatoid arthritis. Tai chi is a form of exercise that is gentle and relaxing. It consists of stretching and deep breathing. Patients who use tai chi as a treatment for RA report to experience improvements in pain and joint mobility.
  5. Fish oil is believed by many to assist with the treatment of RA. Patients who use fish oil supplements report to have less joint pain and decreased joint stiffness. However, side effects may result from fish oil use. Common side effects of the supplement include nausea and increased belching.
