Improve your style by following these 5 punk fashion tips for men. Even if you have to stick to a somewhat conservative wardrobe, you can still had a touch of punk to your fashion by following these fashion tips and but sticking with dark colors and trim fitting clothing. Here's how to follow punk fashion without going overboard.

  1. Find a good pair of skinny jeans. Make sure the jeans fit you and that you're not bulging out of them in inappropriate areas. Tight jeans are punk; poorly fitting jeans are just sad. Choose jeans that are either pure black, a slightly faded black-gray or a deep blue color. Avoid acid wash or any medium to light colors. If you can pull it off, complete the punk fashion look by adding a few slashes and rips up and down the legs of the jeans.

  2. Wear a well-worn t-shirt. Buying a new t-shirt of your favorite band and wearing it as is is not punk. You have to make that shirt look worn in. One way to do that is scrounge around a thrift store and buy used shirts. Another way is to wash a new shirt several times before wearing it and to cut small rips into the underarms or along the hem. Don't get an oversized t-shirt. As with your jeans, the better fitting the shirt, the more punk you'll look.

  3. Wear an unbuttoned button down shirt over the t-shirt or a vest. You can go for the gritty punk look by wearing a worn out jean vest or the slightly hipper punk look by wearing a suit vest over your shirt or a long sleeve button shirt.

  4. Pull on a pair of Doc Marten's or other utility boots. If you want to stand out, choose a pair of boots in an unusual color, such as green or purple. If boots aren't your thing, you can still dress in the punk fashion by wearing Converse All-Stars or a pair of Vans slip-ons on your feet.

  5. Accessorize with spikes and metal. Add subtle punk fashion hints to your wardrobe by pinning a row of safety pins to your jeans or along the hem of your shirt. If you dare, try sticking a safety pin through a pierced ear hole. Wear a metal studded cuff on one wrist or a studded belt around your waist.
