5 RCA TV Troubleshooting Tips

Time is money, and no one wants to spend unnecessary time on the phone with a technical support agent, so we have compiled a list of 5 RCA TV Troubleshooting Tips. The majority of the problems that we have with our televisions are basic in nature, so why don't you give one of our five RCA TV Troubleshooting Tips a try before picking up that phone or hiring a television repair person?

  1. The buttons on the front panel of the TV do not work. First try unplugging the television for five minutes and then plugging it back in. If that does not work, the front panel buttons may be disabled. Using your remote, if equipped, go into the parental controls then front panel block. Depending on your model, select unlock or view. The parental controls menu can be viewed  by pressing the menu button on your remote control.
  2. No color in the picture. Although this may sound simple, try changing the channel to make sure that it is simply not that specific channel that is currently not broadcasting in color. Go into the menu and select the picture quality menu. The picture quality settings on your RCA TV can typically be reset to the factory default settings by pressing cancel or reset.
  3. A certain channel cannot be selected. If you have the parental control features on your RCA TV enabled, they may be prohibiting you from viewing a certain channel. Depending on your television, you can access the parental control menu by doing one of the following things: pressing menu on your remote control and select the parental controls sub-menu, or pressing menu on your remote control followed by TV setup and v-chip set.
  4. An incorrect list of stations is being shown. Your television may be equipped with guide plus+ or guide plus+ gold. To correct this problem, follow these steps: select the guide plus+ menu that is located within the main menu, select setup, change the zip code to 99999, and turn the television off for ten minutes. After turning the television back on, repeat the above steps to change the zip code back to your zip code.
  5. Not able to receive channels. If your television is equipped with guide plus+ or guide plus+ gold, follow these steps: press menu on your remote control and select the guide plus+ sub-menu, select setup, and select yes when asked if you have a cable box. If your television is not equipped with guide plus+ or guide plus+ gold, you can press menu on your remote control and select the channel sub-menu. Select whichever signal type you have, air or cable.
