Use these basic recipes for oriental cooking to prepare 5 recipes to make vegetarian Chinese food. Vegetables are the mainstay of Chinese cooking.   1. Make sweet and sour peppers with tofu. Stir fry the green, yellow and red sweet peppers with the onions until crisp but tender about 3 minutes. Add one inch cubes of tofu and heat through for 20 seconds. Add the purchased sweet and sour sauce. Serve with noodles to soak up the sauce.
