Running is a common theme when it comes to music, so these five songs about running are stand-alone hits which focus on the popular musical theme, both in similar and different ways. Enjoy the list, featured in alphabetical order, of these tunes about running.

  1. Bruce Springsteen, “Born To Run.” Springsteen’s song, also the title of his hit album, is a rock n' roll classic about love and running. It's about taking that leap of faith for love. It’s engaging, with a glorious variety of instruments-guitars, saxophone, quick drum-work-and lyrics that resonate.

  2. Godsmack, “Running Blind.” Featured on the band’s acoustic album, "The Other Side," the song tells a story of searching and struggling. It enables us to realize that the challenges that come along with life can be difficult, and answers aren't always readily available. “Running Blind” is a song about running, albeit it’s based on darker material.

  3. Hoobastank, “Running Away.” The rock/metal group’s hit single is a song about running and the hardships of relationships. It explores the necessary components of truth and honesty, and what happens when there’s a lack of both. Sometimes love runs from us.

  4. Lenny Kravitz, “Where Are We Runnin'?” This track, off of his 2004 album, "Baptism," is a song about running. It’s a contagious pop/rock tune that makes us want to move. Who would have thought a track about running would sound so cool.

  5. U2, “I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.” An epic U2 song dealing with running, it’s a tune of soul-searching, fulfillment and insatiability. It’s definitely a song you’ll run along with and follow, especially because of Bono's words of depth.
