5 Spooky Halloween Recipes

In search of five spooky Halloween recipes? There's no need to scare up a Halloween-themed cookbook. Grab a shopping list, take some notes and give these easy Halloween recipes a try.

Worms for Brains

  • 8 orange bell peppers
  • 1 package (16 ounces) spaghetti
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 jar (26 ounces) spaghetti sauce
  1. For this spooky Halloween recipe, cut tops off peppers and remove seeds. Carve jack-o-lantern faces into one side of each pepper. Save tops.
  2. Cook spaghetti and ground beef. Make sure beef is no longer pink. Drain grease.
  3. Combine drained spaghetti, ground beef and spaghetti sauce in large bowl or pot. Spoon spaghetti mixture into peppers. Cover with bell pepper tops.

Ham and Cheese Spiders

  • 1 tube refrigerated flaky biscuits
  • 1 tube refrigerated breadsticks
  • 1 cup chopped, cooked ham
  • 2 tbsp. onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp. softened butter
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. mustard
  • 5 slices American cheese
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp. water
  • 2 tbsp. sliced olives
  • 1 tbsp. diced pimientos
  • 1 tbsp. poppy seeds
  1. Pat 5 biscuits into 3 1/2 inch circles on two greased baking sheets.
  2. Create four strips from breadsticks by cutting each breadstick in half lengthwise and then widthwise. Repeat process on nine more breasticks.
  3. Use cut breadsticks to make eight spider legs around each biscuit. Prop up each spider leg with a small tinfoil ball so leg will stand after baking this spooky Halloween recipe.
  4. Mix ham, onion, butter and mustard. Place 3 tablespoons of mixture onto each biscuit. Top mixture with folded cheese slices. Cover mixture and cheese with remaining biscuits. Pinch and seal edges.
  5. Brush tops with lightly beaten egg yolk and water. Create eyes on each spider with olive slices and pimientos. Sprinkle with poppy seeds.
  6. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes at 375 degrees.

Haunted Pot Pie

  • 4 cups cooked chicken, cubed
  • 4 cups frozen hash browns, thawed
  • 1 pkg. mixed veggies, thawed
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  1. To begin this spooky Halloween recipe, combine the first 11 ingredients. Pour into greased 13 x 9 baking dish. Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees.
  2. Unfold pastry sheet on lightly floured countertop. Cut Halloween shapes from dough with cookie cutters. Bake Halloween pastry shapes on ungreased cookie sheet for 10 minutes at 400 degrees.
  3. Top each serving of pot pie with Halloween pastry puffs.

Mummies on a Stick

  • 1 tube refrigerated breadsticks
  • 10 popsicle sticks
  • 10 hot dogs
  • Mustard
  1. For this simple spooky Halloween recipe, begin by rolling each breadstick into a 24-inch rope. Skewer each hot dog on a popsicle stick. Wrap each hot dog with one of the breadsticks. Leave the top two inches of the hot dog uncovered as the mummy's head.
  2. Bake on greased baking sheet for 18 minutes at 350 degrees. Decorate each mummy head with mustard eyes.

Ghoulish Fingers

  • 3 pkg. assorted lunch meat (8 ounces each)
  • 3 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 12 grape tomatoes, halved
  1. Roll each slice of lunch meat. Secure seams with cream cheese. Place halved tomato at one end to resemble fingernail. Use cream cheese to hold in place.
  2. Keep this spooky Halloween recipe refrigerated until ready to serve.
