Refreshing and delicious, a summer drink should provide you with the taste of summer on your taste buds. Most summer drinks are tropical and sweet. These 5 summer cocktails are perfect for afternoon gatherings, dinner parties, or just lounging by the pool or beach with friends.

  1. Pina Colada – A Pina Colada is a popular pineapple and coconut flavored blended summer cocktail. To make a Pina Colada, combine pineapple juice, cream of coconut, light rum, and banana along with ice in an electric blender. Then, serve the blended Pina Colada mixture in Collins glasses for a sweet summery treat.

  2. Long Island Iced Tea – Long Island iced teas are rather potent, yet very delicious, making them an excellent summer cocktail choice for sunny gatherings. To make a Long Island iced tea, fill a glass with equal parts rum, vodka, gin, tequila, and triple sec along with 2 parts sweet and sour mix. Top the beverage off with a splash of cola and garnish the drink with a lemon wedge.

  3. Daiquiri – Daiquiris are awesome summer cocktails. The base recipe for a daiquiri is made by combining light rum, sugar, and lime juice over ice in a Collins glass, but many blended fruit versions can be made of this summer cocktail like a strawberry daiquiri, by combining all of the base ingredients with fresh fruit in a blender.

  4. Margarita – Margaritas are one of the more popular summer cocktails. This popular beverage for the sunnier weather is made by filling a cocktail shaker with lime juice with sugar dissolved within it or pre-sweetened lime juice, your choice of tequila, Cointreau or another orange triple sec liqueur, and ice cubes. After shaking together the ingredients, strain the Margarita mixture into a glass rimmed with the juice from a lime and salt.

  5. Sex on the Beach – There are 2 main variations of this popular summer cocktail. The first version consists of vodka, orange juice, cranberry juice, and peach schnapps, while the second variation consists of vodka, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, melon liqueur, and Chambord. Both versions are mixed in a cocktail shaker then poured into a highball glass filled with ice and garnished with an orange, cherry, or whatever fruit you would prefer. Both Sex on the Beach variations make great summer drinks to share with friends or serve at a party.
