5 Summer Drink Recipes
Summer creates the chance to enjoy these 5 summer drink recipes and read a good book in the backyard. Classic Mojito
Ingredients:
- 5 mint leaves
- ½ oz freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1 tsp superfine sugar
- 2 oz. rum
- 1 oz club soda
- Crushed ice
- Put the lime juice and the sugar in a tall glass.
- Add the mint leaves and crush or muddle them against the glass. Use a muddle or the back of a spoon.
- Fill the glass with crushed ice.
- Add the rum and club soda.
If you don’t want the alcohol, substitute mineral water. You can also try other Mojito flavors, adding fruits such as watermelon, pineapple, kiwi, strawberry, etc. Just make sure to crush the fruits very well.
Horchata
Horchata is a popular Mexican drink made with rice and cinnamon.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups white rice
- 6 cups water
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- Combine the water, rice, sugar, and cinnamon in a large container.
- Cover it, and let it sit overnight.
- Pour the mixture into a blender, blending until smooth.
- Add sugar to taste, if desired.
- Strain into a pitcher filled with ice.
Peach Cream Summer Drink
Ingredients:
- ½ cup peach, chopped
- 4 oz. milk
- 1 oz. peach nectar
- 1 tbs. sour cream
- 2 ice cubes
- Combine everything in a blender.
- Blend it at high speed until smooth.
Watermelon and Mint Summer Drink
Ingredients:
- ½ seedless watermelon, cut into small pieces
- 1 cup water
- 5 mint leaves
- ¼ cup sugar
- Fill a blender with the ingredients, and blend until smooth.
- Repeat this process until all the ingredients are used.
- Pour it all into a pitcher, and add ice.
You can substitute the mint with ¼ cup of maraschino cherries.
Tutti Frutti Summer Drink
Ingredients:
- 2 cups strawberries
- ½ cup papaya, cubed
- ½ cup cantaloupe, cubed
- 1 cup fresh, squeezed orange juice
- A splash of grenadine
- Crushed ice
- Sugar
- Fill a blender with all the ingredients and blend at high speed until smooth.
- Repeat the process until all the ingredients are used.
- Pour the entire combination into a pitcher filled with ice.
- Add sugar to taste.
