5 Tennis Serves Tips

Anyone who plays tennis will tell you that the serves are some of the most important aspects of the game, so here are 5 tennis serve tips. Games can literally be won or lost on tennis serves.

  1. Proper positioning of your legs and feet is one of the most important tennis serves tips. Your feet should be shoulder-width apart. The foot closest to the sideline should be placed far enough away so that there is no danger of a foot fault; the other foot should be approximately 2 feet from the center line. Your knees should be bent so that you will be ready to move as soon as you determine the ball’s path.
  2. Tennis serves tips may differ in some respects, but many of them suggest using the Continental grip. In this grip, the hand is positioned down low on racket, completely covering racket end.
  3. All the tennis serves tips in the world won’t help if the ball is not held correctly. It should be held securely between the thumb and all four fingers.
  4. The same thing goes for the ball toss-the best tennis serves tips will do no good if the ball is not tossed correctly. The toss should be slightly higher than the ball can be hit with the racket. The idea is to hit it when it has dropped a few inches, and tossing the ball high enough ensures that this will be possible.
  5. Golf and tennis serves tips have one thing in common. Your eyes should be on the ball at all times. Just as you don’t look up when you swing in golf, you don’t look anywhere else but at the ball when you’re serving in tennis.
