5 Thanksgiving Kosher Recipies

With these five Thanksgiving kosher recipes you can make a great thanksgiving dinner.  These kosher recipes are easy, delicious and will become family favorites.

Roasted Kosher Turkey

Making a great kosher Thanksgiving is possible, just make sure you buy your turkey from a kosher butcher or kosher grocery store.

You need:

  • a raw kosher turkey that is about 10 lbs
  • 2 large apples chopped
  • 2 chopped onions
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • powdered rosemary
  • 1 lemon
  1. Wash the turkey in cold water.
  2. Massage the olive oil onto the turkey with the rosemary powder.
  3. Squeeze the lemon juice on the inside and outside of turkey.  Place the squeezed lemon, chopped onions and apples into the cavity of the turkey.
  4. Cover the turkey with aluminum foil and cook for 2 ½ to 3 hours in baking pan.
  5. Remove the aluminum foil for 30 minutes to allow the turkey to brown. Let sit for 30 minutes and enjoy your delicious kosher Thanksgiving turkey.

Candied Yams is a must have Thanksgiving dish.  This recipe is quick, easy and delicious.

You will need:

  • 8 large yams
  • 12 oz. orange juice concentrate
  • 1 pound of brown sugar
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup water
  1. Peel potatoes and boil in water.
  2. After fifteen minutes and drain water from the potatoes.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients and cook for about fifteen additional minutes. Make sure potatoes are tender and adjust seasoning if necessary. 

Asparagus is a great kosher Thanksgiving side recipe.  It only takes about fifteen minutes and you will have a delicious roasted vegetable.

You will need:

  • 2 pound asparagus
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • balsamic vinegar
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Trim the ends of the asparagus, wash and dry.
  3. On a baking pan place the asparagus in a single layer.
  4. Sprinkle with olive oil, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  5. Make sure the asparagus is evenly covered with the seasoning.
  6. Cook for ten to fifteen minutes.
  7. Before you serve drizzles with balsamic vinegar.

Pecan Banana Bread is an easy kosher Thanksgiving recipe.

All you will need is

  • 3 bananas mashed
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs beaten
  • ½ cup  margarine
  • 1 ¾ cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray loaf pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl mix the baking soda, baking powder and flour together.
  3. In a separate bowl mix all the remaining ingredients. Stir it very well to ensure everything blends evenly.
  4. Bake for 40 minutes. To make sure it is done stick a knife in the middle of the bread. If it comes out clean it is done.

Apple Crisps

To make this delicious kosher Thanksgiving dessert all you need is a few ingredients. 

  • 2 pounds of apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 4 tbsp margarine.
  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Rub a little margarine on the sides and bottom of an 8-by-8-inch baking dish to reduce sticking.
  2. Combine apples, 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a medium bowl and toss. Put this mixture in baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, mix the remaining sugar, flour and margarine.
  4. Pour on top of apple mixture in the baking pan and bake for fifty minutes.  Let cool and enjoy your Thanksgiving dessert.
