Looking for 5 tips for parallel skiing? When parallel skiing, you ski alongside (parallel to) another skier, making the same moves as the other skier, moving at the same speed as the other skier, etc. Here are 5 tips for improving your skill at parallel skiing.
- Practice coordination. Coordination is extremely important when parallel skiing. If you don't coordinate well, accidents could happen. You could slam right into each other, ski right into a tree, etc. Overall, coordinate well when you decide to go parallel skiing.
- Communicate. Use some form of communication. You could just yell at your partner to communicate with him. Or, you could use a radio or a headset. You could even use sign language (however, sign language is not recommended because it takes your focus off of the path ahead). Communication is good because you can tell your partner when to turn or when to make a certain move. Always tell your parallel skiing partner when to make a move. Don't expect him to watch you at all times.
- Practice on your own. Practice your turns, stunts, and so forth on your own. Make sure that your reflexes and your reaction speeds are very fast. This will definitely help you when skiing by yourself and with a partner.
- Eliminate distractions. This should be common sense. Dress warmly to avoid being distracted by being too cold. Layers of clothes will help a lot more than wearing big jumpers. Wear only one pair of socks, as wearing more socks actually makes your feet colder. Also, wear sunglasses to avoid being distracted by the sun. If it's cloudy or shady, then wear goggles.
- Focus. Ignore everything else but your path, your objective and your partner. Make sure that you're in the right position to perform stunts and turns at all times.
