5 Winter Dessert Recipes

These 5 winter dessert recipes are a sweet way to end a meal. Winter dessert doesn’t have to be boring. These warm, rich dessert recipes are good for the holidays or any day of the week.

1. Apple Pie

If you want to make apple pie as a winter dessert, you will need:

  • 1 package of roll out style prepared pie crust
  • 5 tart apples
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of lemon juice
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  1. Roll out one of the crusts into a pie pan. Peel and core the apples. Slice them thinly and put them in the pie crust.
  2. Mix together flour, sugar and cinnamon. Pour over the apples.
  3. Smooth the sour cream over the pie. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes, or the top is lightly browned.

2. Rice Pudding

If you want to make rice pudding for dessert, you will need:

  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 3 cups milk
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup raisins
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  1. Put the beaten eggs in a bowl. Add the remaining ingredients. Mix thoroughly.
  2. Pour into a greased casserole dish. Bake at 325 degrees for one hour.

3. Oatmeal Cookies

If you want to make oatmeal cookies for dessert, you will need:

  • 3/4 cup of butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 1/2 cups oatmeal
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 3/4  cup walnuts, chopped
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a cookie sheet lightly.
  2. Beat together the butter and brown sugar until creamy. Beat in the egg and vanilla.
  3. Sift the flour, baking soda and salt together. Stir these dry ingredients into the butter and add the rest of the ingredients. Mix well.
  4. Drop the dough by spoonfuls onto the cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with the back of the spoon.
  5. Bake for twelve to fifteen minutes. Remove from the oven and put the cookies on a wire rack to cool.

4. Sweet Potato Pudding

If you want to make this simple winter dessert, you will need:

  • 2 cups cooked sweet potatoes, mashed
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 6 egg yolks, beaten
  • 1 /12 teaspoons lemon zest
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons rum
  • ¼ cup pecans, chopped
  •  2 egg whites
  1. Mash the sweet potatoes. Combine all ingredients, except egg whites and pecans, and mix well.
  2. Beat the egg whites until they are stiff. Fold the egg whites into the other ingredients.
  3. Grease a baking dish. Put the pudding in the baking dish. Sprinkle with chopped pecans.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Bake for one hour. Let this dessert cool to set up before serving.

5. Chocolate Mousse

If you want to make chocolate mousse for dessert, you will need:

  • 16 ounces semisweet chocolate
  • ½ cup dark rum
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons lukewarm water
  • 4 egg whites
  • 4 cups heavy cream
  1. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. In another saucepan melt the sugar with the rum over low heat.
  2. Add this sugar syrup to the melted chocolate. Beat in four tablespoons lukewarm water.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff. Whip the cream in a different bowl. Then fold the egg whites and cream together.
  4. Gently fold the chocolate into the cream until uniform in color. Spoon into wine glasses. Chill before serving this decadent dessert.
