Advanced Wrestling Methods
Several advanced wrestling methods effectively corral opponents when correctly applied. It's important to apply advanced wrestling methods correctly as they can prove harmful when done incorrectly. Practicing and improving your advanced wrestling methods gives you that winning edge over your opponent.
- Front Headlock. This advanced wrestling method restrains your opponent in a headlock. When your and your opponent are a the tie-up, place both arms underneath the tie-up and reach up and grab the back of your opponent's neck. Pull your opponent's head down near your body and underneath your armpit. With your opposite hand, scoop under your opponent's armpit and apply pressure to the back of your opponent's shoulder while applying pressure to his neck also. This forces your opponent's neck forward.
- Ankle Pick. This advanced wrestling method covers an advanced takedown method. Either grab the opponent's left ankle with your right hand or grab his right ankle with your left hand. Lift that ankle upwards toward his waist to takedown your opponent.
- Single Leg Seat Belt Toss. With this advanced wrestling method, you bend down and grab your opponent's left leg with your right arm or his right leg with your right arm. With your arm still on his leg, grab with your other arm. Next, grab his seatbelt (around his back) with your other arm, step in with both feet, arch your back and pull from the opponent's seatbelt until he goes over your back.
- Headlock Hip Toss. This advanced wrestling method is excellent for wrestlers in the heavyweight class. Grab both the head and arm of your opponent. At the same time, rotate your hips into your opponent's stomach which should render your opponent weightless. Pop your weightless opponent onto the mat and land on top of your opponent.
