Anaerobic Exercise
When you feel like getting more out of excercising, try out anaerobic exercise. Anaerobic exercise is any exercise at high intensity over a short period of time. Sure, this type of exercise is near impossible to keep up for a long time, but it is a really great workout.
For anaerobic exercise, you will need:
- Plenty of water
- An exercise of your choosing.
- Pick an exercise. Anaerobic exercise can be done with pretty much any exercise, from running to weight lifting or whatever you can think of. If you want to jump around like a monkey, feel free. Be sure to pick an exercise you are comfortable with; if not, you might be in for some pain.
- Warm up. Regardless of what your doing, any successful anaerobic exercise needs requires you to warm up. This is mainly to prevent you from injuring yourself; that would be no good and just make you sedentary and fatter. Start by either doing light stretches or by jogging around the track. Do anything that gets your heart going. Also, be sure you stay hydrated. Dehydration pretty much kills any desire to exercise.
- Do interval training. For anaerobic exercise, you need to do short, controlled blasts of high intensity energy. So, if you are running, try sprinting until you feel like your legs are going to melt. For weights, lift at a faster pace until you hit your set rep number. Once you feel like you are going to throw up, take a rest. Runners should start walking while people lifting weights should just stop and stretch a bit. These high energy spurts of exercise are the only way to do anaerobic exercises, so be prepared to get tired and feel like crap.
Anaerobic exercise is not for the faint of heart. Sure, your first few times will make you wish for death, but it eventually gets easier. Keep it up; you will eventually be able to continue the anaerobic exercises for longer periods of time, which in turn gets you in better shape. You get what you put into it.
