If you were a fan of the most recent round of the Winter Olympics, then you will probably want to know more about the Apolo Ohno biography.  This extraordinary young man has proven that he is not only one of the most successful athletes in the United States but that he is also a savvy celebrity and businessman.

Early Life. Born in 1982 in Seattle, Washington, Apolo grew up watching the Olympics with his father, which sparked in him a desire to compete and to be an athletic success himself.  When he was 14, he went to Lake Placid to begin training with Pat Wentland, a famed speed skating coach.  Even though he did not take his training seriously, Ohno won the 1997 U.S. short-track championship.

Olympic and Athletic Success. After some setbacks, Ohno decided to become more disciplined in his approach to his athletic performance, and this dedication to training and discipline soon paid off.  He won several prizes and championships for short-track skating, including a gold medal in the 2006 Olympics.  After taking a short break, he returned for the 2010 Winter Olympics.  In those he won several medals, which broke the record for the number of medals held by a Winter Olympian.

Other Efforts. However, Ohno has not only proven to be a successful athlete, he has also become a celebrity and author as well.  In 2007 he entered the televised dancing contest “Dancing With the Stars.”  He went on to win the competition alongside his dancing partner Julianne Hough.  In the time since the Olympics he has released his autobiography, which was also very successful.  He has also been very involved with a number of charitable activities. From his work in the Olympics to his success as a celebrity, Apolo Ohno has continued to show that he is one the most motivated young athletes competing today.
