Appendicitis Symptoms In Adults

Appendicitis symptoms in adults are no laughing matter. Appendicitis is a serious and possibly deadly condition. The appendix is a small tube like tissue that extends out of the large intestine. It seems to have no definite use in the body. Appendicitis is caused when the appendix becomes inflamed. Untreated appendicitis will cause the appendix to burst, causing a life threatening condition. There are several appendicitis symptoms in adults. Always see a doctor immediately if you experience any of these symptoms.

  1. Abdominal pain. One of the first symptoms you will see with appendicitis is severe abdominal pain. The pain tends to start out dull and vague around the lower right side of the abdomen. The pain will then become very severe, especially when touched in that area. The pain may be so bad that you would not want to move much at all.
  2. Nausea. Nausea is an extreme discomfort feeling in the stomach. You may feel like you want to vomit when experiencing nausea. The nausea experienced during appendicitis symptoms in adults is attributed to the severe pain and the infection in the appendix.
  3. Vomiting. Vomiting is caused when an upset stomach causes you to regurgitate what you ate. The vomiting from appendicitis symptoms in adults and be minimal or severe. You may not even vomit at all.
  4. Fever. You may have a low-grade fever. The fever from appendicitis symptoms in adults normally is not severe. A low-grade fever is considered 102.1 or lower. These types of fevers are caused by your immune system fighting off illness.
